Cool story, bro.
Nice.
Don’t talk to your mom like that.
SANDY, Ore. – The members of a Sandy T-ball team are wearing crosshairs on their chests, as part of the sponsor’s logo, and at least one mom has spoken out against the design.
The Cal Ripken T-ball League is made up of 4, 5 and 6-year-old boys and girls, and the Ninjas team is sponsored by the Rapid Fire Arms gun store.
One mom said she’s grateful to the gun store for sponsoring the team, and recognizes that teams rely on the generosity of small businesses, but doesn’t think the kids should be promoting guns.
“Cross hairs on the chests of 5 and 6-year-old children is inappropriate,” said the woman, who asked not to be named. “Especially given the recent tragic events, and especially since gun regulation is a hot button topic right now. We need to be eliminating any sort of association between children and guns, rather than promoting it.”
The owner of Rapid Fire Arms, Brian Coleman, said he has a son on the team and just wanted to help out.
“Honestly, I think it’s kind of a positive message that there are people out there that want to help,” he said. “The industry gets a bad rep sometimes and most of us are everyday people that want communities to be safer, happier.”
He said the symbol is essentially his business logo, and that young children aren’t even aware their team is sponsored by a gun seller. They just want to play T-ball.
When reached for comment, the league did not reply.
even if the logo is used elsewhere, for gawds sake not on t shirts on little kids. it’s like putting a bloody bullseye on them. very tasteless.
it’s not about the ‘who’ of sponsorship, it’s about the choice of logo FOR THE KIDS SHIRTS
