Well, Ottawa has decided to jam it’s carbon pricing scheme down our throat. Nova Scotia has already explained to them that because our incomes are low and some of us rely heavily on oil to heat our homes, Nova Scotia has invested heavily in it’s own homegrown strategy for the environment. BUT it looks like the Liberal feds aren’t listening to their provincial brothers. Ottawa’s plan should work for ontario ns wit their abundance of hydro power and gas sipping cars. And, anything will work in Alberta with their higher income oil patch jobs. BUT Justin Trudeau hasn’t considered what it will be like for a Nova Scotian to fork out a carbon tax on an already $800 oil tank fill up. —you can talk to them but they are too self centered to listen

  1. It’s not a done deal, simply a discussion and negotiations are in place to use existing carbon reduction strategies. You’re bitch is too early. Go back to bed.

  2. NSPI has had the facility to start burning Natural Gas to power the city and stop burning Bunker C for years!

but that uberbillion dollar profit keeps getting in the way!

Ottawa is only trying to nudge our blueblooded moneygrubbing economy in the right direction.

  3. But don’t you know that government thinks it can spend your money better than you can and that Liberals love taxes. History does repeat itself. People didn’t learn from the disaster called PET. We are still recovering (or were) from his mismanagement and foolish policies.

  4. There are some things that make sense to be the responsibility of local governments (provincial/municipal). There are other things that can only be managed effectively on a national and global basis. The environment is one of the latter. It affects the entire country and the entire planet. It can’t be left to local governments to dither and bicker over. National governments sign global environmental agreements so it’s up to the feds to take the bull by the horns in Canada. If someone doesn’t force the issue human nature is to resist change and do nothing. National carbon pricing? Bring it on! We’ll be better off in the long run by reducing our dependence on fossil fuels which, as we all know, will cause problems when they eventually rise to high price levels again – and they will.

  5. Our provincial government has created carbon reductions far greater than other provinces and the feds. For all of you environmental advocates, isn’t that what this is all about?

And don’t think that our carbon reductions haven’t come with a tremendous cost to Nova Scotians. We pay some of the highest utility rates in the country because of changes to how NS Power sources their energy.

  6. Fuck the government!!

Our MPs hold the balance of the Liberal majority, it’s about time they started acting like it. Fuck Quebec, Ontario and west!!! All we have to do is get our MPs to vote against it. They’re free to do that, right?
