I live in Halifax, work in Dartmouth. Sometimes I sleep in, and sometimes it’s pouring rain so I choose to cab it to work. Both of these reasons usually make me grumpy first thing in the morning especially when I have to be up at 5am. But when I get into the cab, do you really think I want to hear you complain about having to go over the bridge? NOPE. It’s not like I WANT to go into work for 7am and pay and arm and a leg for the cab in the first place, yes I know it is my fault some of the times and I am willing to accept that. I don’t need the extra grief… Just remember I am PAYING you. No tip for you. —Grrrrrr
This article appears in May 5-11, 2011.

well grrrr, you could always buy your own car, and save yourself the greif of the cab ride. only to be replaced by the extra greif, of standing dead still in morning rush hour traffic. and why the fuck do they call it RUSH hour traffic? seems to me, everyone justs sits there, and takes their good old fucking time.
I agree with the OB. The cabbie is also charging you the bridge fare (both ways) so I don’t see what the problem is.
If I could afford to buy a car, I would have done that a LONG time ago.. LONG, LONG, LONG time ago. Maybe if I saved up all my money I wasted on cabs I could have bought one.. I’m my own worst enemy.. *sigh*
You could always just move to Dartmouth.
loljk
Fuck the cabs! Buy a car. They have some sweet Acura SUVs out for 2011. Time to trade in my 2008.
Aww look at sebastard trying to front and shit.
We all know you’re still driving that sad ass rusted out 92 shit brown suburban.
Why would someone want an Acura or SUV when they can go for a BMW or Benz instead?
With that, does anybody else picture a gay ginger in high heels and singing Destiny Child’s ‘Independent Women’ with a lisp?
The thoeth on mah feet ah bought it! All thebath-chinz who’re independent throw ya handth up at me!
I want one of these.

Blue’s me favorite colour ~:)
O.o I have to say that I am rather dissapointed in you, More…
Because german cars are more expensive to maintain and get parts for NGF. A lot of people prefer Hondas, Acuras, Toyotas, Nissans etc because the parts are easy to find and inexpensive. They might also be more fuel efficient, I could be wrong there, I know VWs have a great reputation in that area.
I’d love a Benz or Audi personally but I’ve seen too many people dump tons of money into them. You usually have to get the parts imported from Germany.
Yeah I would have told that cabby to straight up go fuck himself. I live in Dartmouth and Dartmouth cabbies go to Halifax all the time and never complain. It’s like the Halifax guys are above going to Dartmouth. They charge you the bridge fare. Suck it the fuck up guys it’s called work for a reason. There is a whole other town on the other side of the bridge. Glad I have a car now, I avoid drinking outside my home because I don’t want to deal with getting a cab. It’s bad enough they have the market cornered and do all they can to make sure there aren’t any more cabs on our streets, when it can take hours sometimes on a weekend night to get one.
You also can’t get just anyone to service european cars, either and it can be a pain in the ass to find a decent mechanic for said cars.
I’ll stick with Boxer Engines. Which really only gives me 2 easy options … one of which we already have. So life is schweeet!
Lol.
Orgasmatron….why does that disappoint you ?
I’m not getting one to save the enviorment…I just want a way to enjoy driving, without having to be held hostage by the Gas price fixing nazi’s !
Some times called commodity traders !
Ever since they changed the rules , the price of fuel has been unfairly manipulated for ‘greater profits’
I promise to be burning tires & continuing to burn wood my cardboard waste & anything else that will burn on a regular basis.
… a big mouth like you should drive a big car.
Yup.
Its bigger than a smart car !
I’ll fit in it no problem, but with your balloon head & massive superiority complex, we’d probably have to get you one that tows a trailer !
Yes, MY superiority complex will definitely need a trailer. You’re right.
Your “come backs” are mega lame, More-on.
Just sayin’
Donk’s cool.
Anyway — just get a hybrid like NGF. That motherfucker (ngf not the car) weighs 67 tonnes, and still gets great milage.
He does go through a lot of tires though…. and duct tape (he gotta duct tape his gut to get in behind the wheel!)
So are your’s , petty K !
just saying .
Donk … I’ve got the perfect trialer in mind.
They’re called a boler, & the first one was built from fibre glass by a guy who got interested in the idea of a light weight trailer from his experience building septic tanks .
Whatever dood.
Well, I suppose you’re right, More-on. Nothing really DOES beat the whole “I’m rubber and you’re glue…” line. You got that one DOWN.
the only reason there are lots of parts around for hondas and shit like that, is because a lot of them are crap. my opinion here, so don’t get all nuts on me. just like the old k-cars, plenty of them were around, and plenty of parts fit from 73-80 models. i know, because i used to repair them all the time in spryfield, where i had my business before moving to bridgewater. and the only decent car i see today, is the mazda line, plenty of parts, easy to fix, and mechanics that know what they are doing.
some parts are a little pricey tho. i’m talking about the mpv vans jobs here. fucking muffler and pipes, over a grand.but to each their own, and when they break down, well you was told. you can get a prety good deal just about every car lot in n.s., right now, cause they want you to buy out the older stuff, to get new ones on lot, a.s.a.p.
Yeah, LS I agree 100% about Hondas, I’m a Subaru guy myself, as I told you before. I know those parts can be expensive too. I like Mazdas too, if I had to pick between say a Mazda Toyota or Honda, if we’re talking newer, I’d go Mazda without a second’s hesitation. You can’t tell Honda people nothin, they will never consider buying anything but a Honda. The new Civics are f’n UGLY except for the si coupe which is impractical and way overpriced. The 4 doors look like friggin vaccum cleaners. I hate the little tiny hoods. I think Subie’s are a happy medium, a step above the honda/chevy/toyota type shit but not as expensive as a German car, and a little cheaper to maintain. Also has AWD and a great traction control system which helps with all the shitty weather we have here, I’m never afraid to drive. My dad went thru a few older Audis before he finally for the first time in his life bought a brand new car at around the age of 50, an ’01 Golf TDI. Those are great on gas but you have to replace the turbo charger after so many km’s an that cost about 2 grand I do believe. You’re kind of fucked no matter what when it comes to cars, I wish I knew how to fix em, the labor’s way more expensive than the parts.
we don’t have a car at the moment, i like the look of this. i could get lots of dogs in it, but it’s pricey http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2010/02…
And it costs less than $50 to mega-fill the hybrid too. PK was the first person to go for a cruise with NGF in the fat-mobile. Ran out of duct tape so we strapped her to the roof with Smurfs holding her up and supporting the car’s frame.
My parents have always driven volvos. They had a domestic car once and spent more on that piece of shit than they ever did on the expensive volvo parts. The domestic was always breaking down, but outside of normal maintenance, they haven’t had to really spend anything on repairs (especially on their newest one). And they last forever. My dad was still driving his 1987 back in 2008 when he had a head on with a crane truck. The best thing of all about that car was how there was not one scratch on my dad (except for some soreness when the seatbelt tightened upon impact) and from the side mirrors back you wouldn’t even know it was in an accident. Plus, the motors are designed to drop during a collision so they wouldn’t push up onto those sitting in the front seat.
And they’re great on gas milage.
Volvos might be kinda dorky and pretty pricey, but well worth it.
That’s right, tubzo! Sho’ did.
Snowed that day, too. BUt the smurfs were already blue so they didn’t complain.
i had an old subie years back, had a wheel like a plane’s, and guess what, they actually used to use the old zero motors from world war two, in some of the first ones out. when that thing started up, and was revving, it sounded just like a plane getting ready for lift off. they only made about 1,000 like that i think. fucking shame too, when they would hit 160 no sweat., in a 3 speed floor stick. got my first speeding ticket with it, 135 in a 80 zone. we are talking miles per hour here. here is what i mean, nice little fighter plane.

The Sub. Legacy 2009 was one of the sexiest cars I’ve ever seen! and the drive … unparalleled. I’d honestly rather a second hand one over some of the crap out there.
When you drive a Sub. you know the engine sound too, it’s crazy I can tell when one drives by. Love ’em to death!
Top Gear agrees too …
Haha.
that looks like a fun drive suckster. you made me look donkaloo, very nice. i like these http://serendipitously.files.wordpress.com…
===== You can’t tell Honda people nothin, they will never consider buying anything but a Honda.=====
Sorry, Tommy, I can’t hear you over my red Element that hasn’t had even a minor issue plus great customer service.
I KID!!
I’m thinking about trading Red in for a Subaru Forester maybe. Something I can fit a basketball chair or full hockey gear and sledge into.
Oh yeah, OB- tell cabbies to suck yer arse. They drive during rush hour, they have to expect to do the bridge. I always butter them up with good conversation though. Last thing I need is some cabbie getting pissy because he has to do the (minimal) work of dropping my chair fraqme in the trunk after I hop in the front seat.
I’m sticking to my Yaris for now. Small, nimble, barely sips fuel and haven’t had a single issue with it yet. To top it off, with the way it looks, I don’t have to worry much about it getting stolen.
Maes, sounds like you’re appraising a female. Your next gf perhaps. Lol
I kid.
Also lol PG. You’d look pretty kewl in that car!
i drove a friend’s yaris, very zippy little car. not much leg room tho
I like pronouncing it “Yarse” but then I have maturity issues. Happy 2 days before Mutterstag, Painey. Did the young ‘uns get their books?
thanks admiral, no their day of birthings is at the end of the month http://www.timegenie.com/astrology/zodiac/…
and those littl smart cars, all they are is a 4 wheeler with a body on it. actually, my honda 250 fourtrack, will out run any smart car going, for a fact. had a dude last year racing me down lanesville road in stewiacke. last i saw of him, was about 3 miles behind me. but they are good on fuel. about a liter every hundred kils.
I don’t much like the newer Subies, tbh. I think they hit their peak in the 2nd generation (2000-2008).
Yes I agree Brendon. I specifically requested a 2009 Leg. and ma couldn’t shake the last Eastern one out of NB. They have limited shipments into Canada (apparently, I dunno *shrug*) and ’cause of that refused to go with one of the 2010s.
I’d rather a second hand!
What’s the plural of Lexus?
Just a thought. Lol
Yeah, I agree I liked the older look of the Subie’s I love my 2009 tho wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I fucking hate Yaris’ (Yari?) and Carollas, I just find them to be soooo touchy on the gas. I can tolerate some Camrys. My aunt works for Toyota I could’ve got a deal but I’m particular about cars. I raelly didn’t want a toyota or honda, I would have maybe settled for a mazda but I’m glad I’m not driving something wishing I was driving something else.
Toyota reminds me of old people.
Lexus GS350 AWD – best car I’ve ever owned.
well la de da baz^^this was my favourite car but there was no room for a baby seat so we had to sell it. it was zippy http://static.cargurus.com/images/site/200…
… pg that was the first car my parents ever had … and … they sold it for the same reason. That’s weird lol
nice…you are only slightly older than the boy. we had a toyota corolla after that, nice *family* car but not much fun or torque. i would love one of these http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest03/asse…
Donk, true enough it does sound that way, but to be honest “I don’t have to worry much about it getting stolen” isn’t much of a compliment is it? 😛
