On my daily stroll past Spring Garden where people are rife with indifference to one another—no doubt a byproduct of their blissful consumerism—I notice what was probably five police cars. When I stopped and asked what was going on I was told that a young woman who was a lesbian just got the shit kicked out of her. Now I don’t feel pity for a woman who had the audacity to live her life as a free adult whose biggest crime that night was loving the people who most bring joy and warmth into her heart.
No, I feel pity for the sheep flock that stood by and let those wolves tear at her. We as human beings have the ability and choice to recognize and implement consent-based morality to be our own person while allowing others to be theirs.
As for the ignorant thug individuals blessed with the brain of a baked potato that is haphazardly plugged into a body of protoplasm and shit… thanks for proving to the fundamentalist preachers up the street that evolution doesn’t exist. —Mukwa

  1. Stop being full of shit. We as humans are bystanders by nature. I hate when people act high and mighty about what they would have done or what people should have done. You know why we tend to not get involved in the affairs of others? It’s called self preservation. If the OB actually gave a single fuck about people he’d be off building homes for aids infected Africans rather than walking around in over priced hipster clothing.

Eat a dick and stop acting like you aren’t just an average nobody.

  2. Are you absolutely certain that she got the shit kicked out of her for being a lesbian? That pre-supposes more knowledge of the event than you let on.
And your clumsy attempt to link consumerism with indifference would be precious and condescending on an episode of Degrassi – circa 1987.

  3. Wait… did they say she was beaten FOR being a lesbian?
Cause that’s not what you said…
you said she got the shit kicked outta her… and happen to be a lesbian.

  4. Forget the fact that she’s a lesbian for a minute and let’s concentrate on the responses on here and how none are actually disgusted by the fact that such a violent incident against a “woman” happened here in your backyard. Regardless of what her sexual preference is and regardless of who she is, it’s a fucking woman, don’t people have respect and appreciation for women anymore?!
The responses alone tells me that none of you would have done anything and would have stood there and watched.
We sit high and mighty on our high horses here and criticize other nations and cultures and what have you for mistreating women, yet this is the response you give. Shame.

I’ll have to say though, bravo. I’ve travelled quite a bit and the most disrespect and disregard for women I witnessed was in North America.

  5. can’t anyone just write a clear, consise bitch without trying to sound all fancy-schmancy? op, please rewrite this, maybe in point form.
and stop with the feeble, sarcastic ‘thanks’ in all these bitches.
and no more hauling karma out like an all purpose cleanser.
all that aside, the girl probably did get beaten up for being a lesbian, but op, you have to make that clear.

  6. Now there is an idea…imagine myself intervening in the worlds great disasters to make myself feel superior! There I am on the Titanic/hindenburg/concentration camps, making a difference like only I can! If only I was there, things woulda been different…

  7. lesbian or gay male, no one deserves that shit. unless they were being such a fuckhead to then warrant it. go figure, it’s halisux.

  8. Why would the police tell you that? They feel it was a hate crime? I always thought the cops were tight-lipped about giving any details to bystanders.
You’re right though OP, anyone who witnessed the incident and didn’t intercede or help the police with descriptions are pathetic.
BTW Furious (scroll up and make sure the ‘s’ is there) there is this thing called the “Time Paradox” so don’t be travelling back and forth in time doing good deeds for you may cease to exist. Of course if you never existed, how did you go back in time and make these changes to cause your lack of existence? Of course that would just be an adjusted reality that never included you and things went just the way they should have without you and your time machine.

  9. The best time travel book ever written is Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams. Silly Trood, I don’t exist!

  10. Randomness… for shame! If you’re a lady, then you sound pretty sexist. And if you don’t think women can be sexist, then you’re ignorant as well. If you’re a dude, then you should probably remove those rose colored glasses.

You just generalized an entire continent into women haters! How do you know it wasn’t a girl on girl fight?

“…none are actually disgusted by the fact that such a violent incident against a “woman” happened here…” – Well I’m disgusted by the fact that a PERSON had this happen to them. But, I guess that still makes me a sexist bastard, right Random?

So regardless of whether it’s a man or woman, she’s a fucking lesbian, and that’s her own business. Doesn’t anyone have respect and appreciation for individuality anymore?

Also, if women have been fighting for equal rights for countless decades in this country, then shouldn’t they be allowed to brawl like everyone else? It’s a bit of a double standard to have equal rights for all, then place all women on this untouchable pedestal.

  11. What if she was trying to commit a hatecrime and was violently stopped? Hearing only the last half of the story allows me to reach my own conclusions. Next, if there were so many bystanders watching then why the hell isn’t this on Youtube yet? Dammit people!

  12. The title of the post leads me to a question. If you were there five minutes early would you have watched it go down, or recorded it for the rest of us?

  13. And since you happened upon the scene AFTER the police showed up, how do you know that there WASN’T somebody who DID try to intervene? Obviously someone did at some level or the police wouldn’t have been there.

  14. since the chronically horrid would be jizzing in their pants to report this story if it was true…. i have to call bullshit on the circumstances.

It was probably either drug related, or a domestic dispute.

lesbians can have fucked up relationships and be bad people too yanno. 😉

if loving pussy suddenly made you a saint, we would have world peace 😉

  15. Intervening in a fight can get you charged with assault, not to mention killed. Someone called the cops, that’s really all you can do. If someone wants to be a hero, good for them, but I’m not going to say that since no one came to this person’s rescue that they’re bad people.

Maybe she got beat up because of who she is. It’s also just as, if not more probable that she got beat up because she did normal stuff that people tend to get beat up for such as stealing, lying, manipulating or generally fucking someone over. Maybe she had beaten someone up. For all you know she could have killed or tortured somebody. Or maybe it was for no reason at all. Because that does happen, it happened to me when I was about 14. Got beat up for no reason, 3 on 1.

Was it a one on one fight or several on one? You’re really going to stand here and tell us you would have risked being killed or permanently injured for a stranger? How about jail time? What if the cops show up in the middle of your heroics and see you hit someone or something? Then you just assaulted someone in front of a cop. You could lose your job over some shit like that and have a criminal record for life. If you intervene in a fight and suffer injury I’m pretty sure you’re legally liable. I could be wrong. That’s what happened to that US military guy who got stabbed to death downtown isn’t it? Didn’t he try to break up a fight? That’s what happens sometimes when you try to be a hero.

You’re no better than any of those people OP because my bet is that you’d have done the exact same thing if you had in fact been there 5 minutes earlier.
