Okay, bus drivers. It is July. It is warm. There is no excuse to not have the AC on buses, especially during rush hour. I get there are buses with no AC, but I have been on buses with no windows or ceiling vents open. Having those damn vents open should be fucking mandatory if the bus is not equipped with AC. I expected shit to get better after the strike, but none of you seem to give a fuck. —Too Fucking Hot

Uhhhh…….. did you ask the driver if they could put it on? Is it a bus that even HAS AC? IF not, than open the damn windows yourself. It’s not that difficult.

i was on one of the newer buses not that long ago and it was super hotttttt out. i get on, sit down, and the heater was pumping out heat. ppl had the windows open and the driver had the top vent open too. i asked him if he could turn the heat OFF and he said he had it off, that he had the AC on at one point but ppl kept opening the windows so he said the AC was pointless. he said that the heaters were hot b/c it was hot outside. i thought it was strange that the bus would overheat ‘that’ much. *shrug*
This is a perfect example of people’s attitudes towards Metro Transit drivers here.

Here’s a tidbit for you in the future though;
Buses 1084 and higher SHOULD have AC. I say SHOULD because things break down (make sure you blame the driver for that).

Contrary to the posts here, I have not really encountered any overly rude drivers. Most of them are quite pleasant to deal with, but it’s like any job – there are douchebag(s) that shouldn’t be working there.
Why don’t you call Mayor McCheese about it rather than blaming someone who has absolutely zero control as to whether the bus has AC or not?

Oh I forgot about strollers, people that sit on the outside seats, teenagers that have to talk above everyone about who’s fucking who, the list goes on.
Alas, I have no choice. I have succumed to the transit system. There’s nothing on TV.
Hooligan it actually starts at 1083 and the 60ft bus as long as their new . Link Buses, Airport bus and smaller metro x bus have Ac providing it works.
Note that some people should know when it comes to AC on a bus first of all we only have two options On or off we don’t control the temp. Some buses are colder then others just by virtue as to how good the system works.
Also on the 60ft buses (excludes the hybrids) if you have ever looked up at the roof you will see a vent looking think ( between the roof vents in the front also one located in the back) these thinks are your ac what it does is pushes AC along the roof of the bus to vents that are just above the passenger sections. When some one opens a window it leaves the bus. More people that open windows makes the AC escape ( as would happen in a house). This causes the HVAC system to work harder to try to cool the bus which causes buses to over heat. So maybe telling fellow passengers to shut the windows would help.
On the 40ft buses (Excluding the airport bus as it works like the 60ft buses but includes the hybrids) the A/C comes from the rear of the bus and is pushes forward
through the roof of the bus and through vents at just above the windows. If some one in the rear opens a window it sucks the AC making it so that it will not travel up the body as it should. Also having the widows open in the rear can lead to the bus over heating as the HVAC system has to work harder to try to maintain the temp it was programmed too.
Also when it comes to windows and vents on a bus with no A/C. Windows is up to you the passenger when you sit down open the window heck open a couple if there aren’t many people on the bus. As for the vents yes that is us drivers that should do that. But most buses go out at between 5am and 6:30 am at that time it is usually to cold to have them open so we don’t. Then as the sun starts to come up we are dealing with driving the bus and traffic so we may forget. By all means ask the driver if they wouldn’t mind I’m sure most would be more then happy to so.
I have had a bus out where I didn’t open them in the morning as it was 16 then by noon it was 30. I had a passenger ask me if I wouldn’t mind I looked at them and said I’m so sorry I forgot about them absolutely, just wait till I pull into a pull in bus stop that is safe or a terminal and I will open them up for you.

Why is it not your job to provide the most comfortable experience for your customers, Artic? Just because it’s not specifically written in your contract, doesn’t mean it’s not in your “customer service” obligations. Fucking dolt!
The fuck heads at MT would have the AC disconnected when they first started to purchase the New Flyers that came with AC to save a dollar. That is the truth. When they started asking the companies who made these buses to not put in the AC, the company told them this is how they come with AC included and if you want us to make your buses without we will charge you for the inconvenience. Guess what? MT said never mind then keep it in. Thats how much they are concerned about you. So when the AC breaks down don’t hold your breath that it will get repaired, cause it won’t. So if your blessed enough to get an AC bus keep the stupid windows shut assholes.
I should mention the possibility that city council may have had a say in it as well, and not in your favour I might add. Contrary to popular belief MT and city council don’t give a rats ass about you being hot on a dissmantled AC bus.
