I’m getting really sick and tired of everyone complaining about bus drivers sitting there and doing nothing when there is a disturbance on their bus. They have a few things they can do and getting up out of their seat is not one of them! If they get up and go engage the problem they could get fired or suspended! All they can do is safely stop the bus, yell back to the fight or whatever the disturbance is, and call for help! To all those people complaining that the driver did nothing on the bus today when those two girls were fighting, I saw the driver pick up the radio and call for help! —STFU

  1. If you need to fight on a bus then you must be pretty stupid. Fighting in public in general is just stupid. They are the real idiots.

  2. If I were a bus driver I would exercise that right to call for help…maybe then some people would get banned from using the services. Save us alot of headaches.

  3. Sadly there is little the drivers can do when fights start on the bus. But cause its public transit they are expected to do something about it.
I agree with Beener about banning the ones who cause trouble on the bus.
Maybe the drivers would do more if they were allowed to carry weapons to protect themselves.
Possibly even provide them with self defence training so they can legally do more when a fight happens on a bus without fear of getting in shit over it.

  4. I agree OP, I don’t blame the driver for not getting involved in a fistfight. People die like that. It’s not his job. I would have asked those people “Why didn’t you do something” and probably called them a hypocrite coward and depending on my mood cursed them out. My car payment, gas and insurance is tough on my budget, but I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with the bus anymore.

  5. Na, MissPinky, I think things are just fine the way they are. You know that if drivers were to be provided training it’s be at a cost to us, and they would probably also want “danger pay” I know I would. Maybe having a trained, possibly armed security guard on crowded routes could work. Also, personally I wouldn’t want drivers carrying weapons, some of them are batshit crazy.

  6. exactly I_K, that would annoy the piss out of me, able bodied people sitting around like “somebody do something!” how bout YOU do something or mind your own business? I’ll NEVER try to break up a fight between two strangers, I’d never expect anyone else to either. Not even the driver.

One of those people could have hepatitis or HIV or something and bite you or cut you and infect you or stab you with a syringe or something for all you know.

I’d have sat and watched or got off the bus if I really feared for my safety.

  7. If it’s between two people, it’s none of my business. If it’s someone being jumped…fuck it I’m jumping in. It’s happened to me too many times not to get involved.

  8. I kinda disagree cuz, ya see if the fight is happening on a bus, which is essentially a mobile public space, and I happen to be on it at the time, then it IS my business. Just like it’s everybody else’s business who’s there. You’re causing a public disturbance, you’re delaying me/everybody else in getting to where we want to go and you’re in a confined space where the potential to injure me or someone other than your intended target are far too high. If two fucktards want to start swinging at each other, fine. But take it elsewhere. I suggest behind the school…..by the bike racks…..at 3 o’clock….you better show up.

  9. If some dumbasses decide to fight at my place of work, it is up to them, unless someone is getting severely beaten. Call the police, they are trained to deal with that situation, it is not on the employee to stop it.
    It is simple humanity.

  10. Yes but if you just try your best to stay out of the way avast you’re more likely to not be harmed, if you jump into a fight that isn’t yours, no matter when and where it may take place, I personally won’t feel too sorry for you when you get hurt. You getting involved in a fight on a bus is not going to make matters any better, it’s going to cause more chaos and further endanger the other passengers, especially you.

You wanna be a hero? Do the smart thing and live to see your friends and family again. Save the energy for when someone fucks with you or yours.

  11. I agree OP, bus drivers have to deal with a lot of crap. It was awesome that he called, and I hope that those two girls that fought are banned. It blows me away how some people can be so incredibly stupid and immature.

  12. Bus driver are fat and have hemmorhoids……..they do not need any more aggravation………hell, waking up each morning to discover you are a bus driver should be punishment enough for whatever wrongs one did in a previous life.

  13. and if they do get involved, hands on, and get hurt, their insurance probly will not cover them. yes, best to sit it out, with doors closed tight, and wait for cops. this happened on a bus when i was on it a few years back. bunch of girls, got on, started causing a bunch of shit,. driver asked them to please quiet down, they gave him the “tude. and kept at it. he told them either to stop, or he would call cops, they kept it up, and he did. seems they were on some sort of stay away list to begin with.
and what would happen if it was a fsmaller female driver? no, they keep out of it if they possibly can.

  14. Wow, it’s amazing the lousy service people will pay two bucks for. Fighting chicks, smells of BO, poor people, strollers, etc. So not worth it. Those people would be better off investing their money in the stock markets, making some sweet profit, and then buying a car.

  15. I’m with Vastie–I do get involved–not likely to swing my fists, but someone is likely to feel the sharp side of my tongue. And, of course, I’ve got the ‘teacher voice’ and look…in bullying prevention seminar I saw, the lecturer said that bystanders who did nothing were enabling the bully…You need to say something when you see that shit.

  16. how the hell can you ban someone from taking the bus?
maybe that one route for that one driver who may remember them….
but how are all drivers supposed to know them?
and without a name or shred of credentials….

they would have to set it up like the dome where they scan your drivers license or id every time you got on the bus….

    makes no sense to me.
Maybe someone could explain implementation… since many of you think that is what should happen but offer no explanation as to ‘how’?
