When you first opened, I was really excited. “Classy place,” I remember thinking, “Now that my other favourite place is gone, maybe THIS will be MY STORE.”

So I tried. On every possible buying and gift-giving occassion, I went to your store first, when I could have just as easily gone to the internet.

You had nice stuff, a good variety, and the place was cool in an older, more sophisticated way, rather than a teen-age way. I liked that.

But EVERY FUCKING TIME I went in there, YOU ALWAYS TURNED MY QUESTIONS/REQUESTS INTO AN ARGUMENT.

Ya know, when someone asks if you have “X”, the correct response is “yes” or “no”, not a snarky “I’ve never heard of that, so I am sure it must not exist, and even if it did exist it wouldn’t be any good anyway.”

At first, I thought it was just me—hey, I know I can take things too personally sometimes—but NO! My friends mentioned you did this to them too! Not just once, but ALL THE TIME!!!!

Just because you are from Ontario doesn’t mean that every customer in Halifax is an ignorant rube who needs to be “corrected” on their misinformed tastes.

So, I’m sad to hear it didn’t work out for you here in NS. And I’m sorry Christmas Eve was a disaster for everyone in retail, but you must have known that you couldn’t make a go of it by deliberatley driving the customers away. Kind of obvious.

Have a nice drive back!

  1. Holy fuck, OP, retract the ten inch daggers you call nails – I think Miss Ontario is drained of blood. Are you going to tango on her ashes??

  2. If you’re talking about any sort of electronics retailer, 90% of the customers that come through the door are ignorant rubes, actually.

  3. I once asked for a 20MB hard drive by mistake. Instead of saying ‘don’t you mean a 20 gig hard drive?’ and me buying one the guy said they don’t have any.

Salespeople are there to take your money, rube or not. If they don’t then they should be flipping burgers somewhere.

  4. I once went to Subway and asked for a roast beef kaizer with tomatoe and onion….he said what…I said kaizer…he said… wha…I said kaizer..he said wh….I said kaizer..he said…………..’ w’…

I said ROASTBEEF KAIZER and pointed to the bun…

    he said oooooooooo

He always worked night shift so was not used to anything other than drunkenese…

    It is a kaizer roll……….. a teachable moment…

  5. What I like is when I say (after the ‘hello, how may I help you) “I’d like a big mac meal with coke for here.” and get…

“is this for here or to go?” for here
“what would you like?” big mac meal
“what would you like to drink with that?” coke

  6. LOLOLOL.may be the same person ………. LOL……… too comical…

…….. or as soon as you get your groceries on the belt/counter at certain places they stop and ask if you have a Air Miles/Optimum card and you are still putting your things on the counter at cash…and they wait…..excuse me for not being a octopus…..

  7. Actually mcgayle, if they don’t ask right away, they’re not doing their job right, regardless if you putting your stuff on the counter to pay for it. If that was a mystery shop, they’d be scored poorly for the entire experience if that was not followed to exactly.

  8. It’s not a she, it’s a HE!

And he is the one bitching about Nova Scotia and how it sucks and how he has to move back to Ontario.

He’s the one who doesn’t understand that he pissed off all his customers and THAT’S why he has to close!

  9. Well, I wasn’t sure how many identifying details we were allowed to give without being banned from the place, but the owner’s been bitching about this on other media all week.

He blames Nova Scotia Power’s failure to rectify the problem on Christmas Eve as the reason for his business’ failure—without understanding that there were BIGGER reasons people stopped going to his store during all the other months of the year.

  10. yea really though they blame it on one month?
which should ahve been the busy month of the year!

Yikes buddy just had a crappy business or no business ethic.
