Everyone here has a job to do. The company is growing by leaps and bounds, so we are all helping each other get through the mountain of work that’s piling up. The boss says “it’s not in the budget” to hire more people (clearly he is missing the point that this is all going to come crashing down if we do not get more bodies in here which is going to cost WAY more in the long run). But I digress…
I can’t hep you with your pile of the work if you don’t fucking COMMUNICATE with me. You have to be willing to share information on HOW to help you. I realize you’re about to drop a giant baby in about 2 hours, but you’d think maybe you’d want to get assistance so you don’t have to forego mat leave to breast feed over your laptop.
And if you sit around the corner, listening to half of a conversation, and then come running out with our boss accusing me of not pitching in without clarifying (or even eavesdropping on the WHOLE conversation), be prepared to look like the idiot you are. Which part of “I can’t help you at 9 because I am supposed to be spending time learning systems from X, but I can do it around 11, I’m putting off my own workload and staying late tomorrow.” means “I’m not doing shit to help X?” —Why The FUCK Did I Take Another Job with a “Small Company” Needing My “Expertise” to Help Through a “Growth Spurt”

No one really does that here, man.
Growing pains suck …. I had my share of these “small companies” and although the pressure is on to produce with limited staffing and resources …. the pay-off to you will be enormous as you will be “cross-trained” (hate that term!) in so many areas that when the time comes to re-brand yourself and market your competencies to another organization they will pay HUGE dollars for your experience ………. true dat!
Employers pay more for what is in your head than what is on paper (ie. skills and abilities versus job title)……. you document everything you are managing and keep a portfolio of projects (nice to have the client letters too) and this is your calling card to a great future.
Oh yeah, when the baby-mamma goes on mat leave then everyone can manage much better without the meddling.
You’re totally right Koda. I worked for a company less than a year old, helping to build and organize everything that goes along with a small business. When a potential employer sees that sort of skill set they can’t get enough of you… unless that little company went bankrupt and doesn’t exist anymore, in which case don’t bring it up.
but, but, if you do your shit clearly and faithfully, and accurately, then you will be the one in the brownie position. and you know how hard those places are to come by. if you just do your own thing, maybe pitch in a hand here and there, you just turn out to be the golden boy/girl for your boss. and hey, raises don’t hurt either.
I guarantee the world will not stop running on its axis if you quit. Your expertise is not that invaluable. Another IT guy with a bloated sense of entitlement. Do what you’re asked or find yourself in the employment line, genius.
*unemployment line
you sound like a genuine asshole, no-fool.
well that’s nothing new…
she should keep her yap shut… munching on cupcake crumbs she finds in her bra.
and apparently no-one knows as much about golden, hard, brownie positions as the ultra-perv suckster
