Today marks 3 years of living in Halifax after moving from Ontario. Everyone thought we were crazy moving to this province to find work. Well the good news is that we did find pretty decent jobs here, mainly because the lack of quality competition in this city. Even better news is that there is nothing to do here, taxes are much higher, groceries are more expensive, people are stunned, the weather sucks, etc. The list could go on forever. Sadly enough, the only really good points about living here is the water and the nice people. Before living here we really didn’t know there was a province in Canada that would cost a lot more to live in and not give you any benefits for the extra cost. No wonder everyone here is depressed! No wonder everyone here is stoned and drunk all of the time. How could they live in this shitty province and be sober? I long for the days when I could travel to the US, Canada’s Wonderland, see a Blue Jays or Raptors game, check out Niagara Falls, African lion safari, and see good concerts, and all within a 1 hour drive. Oh yeah, on top of that, we wouldn’t have to worry about being gang raped when walking at night and have fun things to do in the city. Fuck, here there aren’t even good, safe places to play pool or go bowling. It’s pathetic. Hey let’s look at the bright side, our month of sun is only 6 months away. Can’t fucking wait! —Wishing for a Sarcasm Font

this post made my otherwise terrible day
aw… I loved me Canada’s Wonderland…
HAD TO REMIND ME…. grrrr
*hick*…. oop, a little vomit there…
I tell you what…. buddily boy…
you… I tell you…. uh….
FUCK YOU MAN… at least the booze is….
uh,…. is more expensive.. so it’s better.
and it’s aged a few….*hick* extra days to get here so FUC…
er… ya, FUCK YOU.
you know… I hate it when we fight…
you’re right… I love you man…
you’re the best man.
*hick*
We “people” don’t like being classed as “stunned”. Go back to where you came and fuck off.
i’ve played pool and went bowling many times and felt safe…
You sit here and insult the people that live here but yet insult us at the same time.
make up your mind
And i don’t know where its is that you go wthat you worry about being “gang raped” because i find this place is pretty freakin safe.
I’m the first person to admit that most of the things you mentioned are true, but, you use a condescending tone that will not get much support from anyone here. Go ahead, move back to Toronto with their beautiful smoggy 40 degree weather in the summer, and the -30 windwhipped, flat, boring landscape. Go fuck a lion on a rollercoaster you upper Canadian snob, half the problem with NS is the influx of ignorant douchebags from TO that moved here and brought your big city attitudes with you, thinking you could turn our little slice of heaven into another suburb. Now pack your shit, quit your jobs, give them back to some people who are struggling to stay here, and fuck off. I’ll drive you there myself. *gives finger*
I’ve always found any place is what you make it. I’ve lived here 14+ years and enjoy the place. I don’t care about Blue Jays and Raptors but prefer the Neptune and the Symphony, both of which are excellent and well within a half-hour’s drive of where I live.
On a related note, whenever we show an apartment to an Ontarian they always come across as know-it-alls with unrealistic expectations. In a decade of renting apartments, the majority of our leases with Ontarians have ended badly. Not throwing stones, just stating facts.
Actually I kind of like the word stunned… I use it all the time, lol. Good one OP
“stunned as a bag of hammers*
harper is the devil
i am in love with you for that
No, you’re right OP, there’s no gang-related shootings in Toronto is there?
and you know, at least we get some sun and not the grey sky that blankets Toronto
I can only imagine that you OP would be unhappy here in NS. People here really only like people that are down to earth and generally friendly. So I can clearly see that you wouldn’t do well here. Probably should pack your bags, can’t see how you would be missed.
Lol am I seriously reading this right…? Friendly people here? Shit I guess I’m looking in all the wrong places then…. I think my town in Ontario was full of nicer people then all of nova scotia…I was at sobeys at the penhorn plaza the other night and I was scared to walk to and from my car…. I would NEVER think about this in my home town in Ontario. Soon we will be together again. ALSO on a brighter note Canada’s wonderland is building yet another new rollercoaster! I’ll be psyched to check that out in the summer!
It could be your attitude. Just sayin….
The OB needs about 5 hours on the 401. The best veiw of TO? In the rearview mirror. Also someone is spreading a rumour they have a professional hockey team but I can’t find one.
So the OB makes a concious decision to move here, then pisses and moans about it. The funny thing people from Ontario don’t realize, is that everyone can tell when someone is from Ontario even without being told so…it only takes a few minutes of conversation and they reveal themselves. Ontario is just the province of shitty accents that American TV mocks to make fun of Canadians.
To live in this province requires much more of someone than if you were living in Ontario. Here, we have to make things happen for ourselves instead of just stepping into something that’s already going on… if that makes any sense. I used to hate it here too, then when I turned 19 and moved out of the dreadful suburbs, I started to like it. I just changed my attitude. If you look, you can find things you enjoy here. I still wouldn’t want to stay here forever but I’m enjoying it for now. And I think besides BC, we’ve been one of the warmest places in Canada this winter ;D and it’s only snowed 3 times.

Great link Painey. Hay OP, read the other story on the link about “Hate Crimes In Newmarket”. According to some experts, that too, is something that only happens here in the Nova Scozarks. I always laugh when racists misspell the “N” word. Either that, or they are showing off their knowledge of African geography.
If you come to Nova Scotia from Ontario with the expectation that it will be a mini-Ontario … you’re bound to be disappointed and that’s no one’s fault but your own. Before your relocate again, perhaps ensure appropriate time for inward reflection on what makes you happy and do a bit of research to ensure the place you’re moving to will meet those expectations. Then you won’t have to risk exposure to us stupid, stunned, poor folk who couldn’t afford to go to a professional sports venue if it existed here because we spent all of our money on alcohol and drugs and can only afford to see sports we love at the local rink, diamond, pitch or court. And, that’s only if we’re free to go at all because we’re not incarcerated for rape.
“go fuck a lion on a roller coaster” … made my morning! Clearly the OP has a MUCH too sophisticated taste in culture to subsist in a tiny little “hick town” like Halifax! He needs lions, and theme parks, and concerts, oh MY.
That house is disgusting PG!!! It looks like a hoarder lived there. I live better than a millionaire in Toronto ;D
eau du dead rat…mmm. they’ll probably tear it down, that happened in the beaches. it’s the value of the land
If you don’t like it then leave. It’s not fucking rocket science.
YEAHHHH UPPER CANADA FOREVER!!!
and also candle pin bowling is the WORST who thought that was a good idea
ok,
1. “Leviathan will be a larger cousin to the existing Behemoth roller coaster”
Holy shit, I’m booking a flight for summer.
I HAVE to give that fucker a spin.
Behemoth had my balls in my throat… this thing is going to be mind-blowing!
2. candlepin bowling is the hardest kind of bowling there is.
you only hate it because you blow at it… as do most people.
plus, it was better at the time because the pinsetters were actual people and it saved time not having to go in and clear the deadwood after every ball.
douche.
YES, it is quite depressing here, things are more expensive, there is nothing really to do, and the weather sucks. You’re right about quite a few things, and I too am looking to relocate for better opportunities. HOWEVER, who THE FUCK do you think you are?!?!?!? you pretentious, narcissistic, asshole! “lack of quality competition”??? “people here are stunned”?? what the fuck?? I DARE you to have the balls to get off your pathetic ass and say that out loud, in person. We might not have it all, but we have one another, DON’T FUCK WITH A MARITIMER!!!!
