I hate my job, and my boss.
I hate that this job is the only way I can make enough money to pay student debt and rent.
I hate that I leave for work at 7:30, get home at 7:30 and only have the energy to watch an episode of Jeopardy before dragging my ass to bed.
I hate that I know people who didn’t waste years of their lives and tens of thousands of dollars on university and now have triple and quadruple the disposable income I have.
I hate that my two options are 1. Quit and File Bankruptcy (which won’t even clear any signifigant debt) or 2. Keep working and become more of a horrible, bitter, angry person every day.

Wishes I were a Welfare Bum–yeah, there’s a solution. My friend has a boarder who is an ex-student looking for work, and he pays $50 of his 200 and some dollar welfare cheque to student loan.
there’s always the option of a roomie, or is it that you like being on your own too much. sometimes we all have to do shit that behooves us,self included here.trust me, i have been on my own since about 15, and got into all kinds of shit,but i straightened my shit out, and am fairly respectable now. having bills is a bitch, best left at the door to anywhere, but it is also a damn fact of life. good luck making it, it’s a long hard fucking road.

You wish to be a welfare bum??? Let me tell ya, kid, when you go on welfare, your independence goes right down the fucking tube. And don’t forget those good eats (like bread with no middle, just crust) at the food bank because you won’t be able to afford luxuries like food on a welfare cheque. I know this because my oldest friend gave up a $35,000 12 years ago because she thought exactly what you’re thinking right now. Instead of whimpering about your fate, you should hunt for another job pronto. If you grow bitter, you’ve only got yourself to blame.

FWIW: You cannot file for a bankruptcy discharge of your student loans. Those loans are not covered under Canadian Bankruptcy laws. It takes 10 years to declare bankruptcy on SL. That change was a private members’ bill submitted and rubber stamped through Parliament around 1998. Look for better work on the weekends, and good luck.
Man.. it’s not that hard to get a new job. I hate my job too, and it’s a night shift, but I have loans to pay so until I get them paid back that’s life. I don’t think its the length of the job that’s bothering you, just the job itself. Start applying!
If you’re too chickenshit to look for other work, might I suggest cutting expenses you don’t need? Taking on a roommate is an idea, changing your address is another, the list goes on.

I hear and feel for ya. I have the same problem and the same friends with their high school educations and nice houses, cars, and big screen TVs.
I know what it’s like to work for 10-12 hours a day and be too exhausted to even think about looking for a new job.
I don’t think there is a solution. It won’t really get much better. Sorry dude.

manchester81, a degree is only worth the paper it is printed on.trust me,i know. i have 3 of them,and still chose my own field of work. and i am happy doing what i do, believe me here.i tried finding a half decent job in the areas that i took,and it seemed that they wanted experienced personal only.so how the fuck do you get this experience anyway?don’t you have to get that job,to work at for years,then find half your life gone? no fucking way dudes and dudettes.just look for something that will substain you, til that plum job opens,and then go try to get it. we are in a rat race,and it is geared against every fucking one of us.hang in there.
