In the last few weeks, I can focus on nothing but this silly question; “what defines me as a human being?”. has anyone a shortcut to the answer? I feel like everything I do/did is meaningless unless it was/is in the light of what makes it meaningful! and going to school or writing a thesis does not make sense because I want the degree or the privileges it has. It should be related to something more meaningful and absolutely not selfish.
I am ashamed that I am 28 man … but without a clue (most of the time).

ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
The more time you spend worrying about life, the more it’ll pass you by. Don’t panic.
Ok?
So you are questioning everything? Good. An honest doubt makes for a stronger faith – in yourself. You will figure this stuff out.
Admitting it is the first step. Now that you’re paying attention why not start with the implications of string theory. The purpose for your living and what you should do about it will become apparent.
Check out Brian Greene, The Elegant Universe. (google video) Then take a stab at What The Bleep Do We Know. It’s a big big helping of truth that might take 10 minutes, 10 years or 10 lifetimes to understand. Careful, your life will change if you keep asking these questions.
As you get older, this will matter less and less. Just enjoy your life, treat each day as an adventure and leave the deep questions in the fucking trash where they belong. No one has yet been able to answer that eons old question – what is the meaning of it all? If all the great minds of the past and present couldn’t figure it out, it’s likely you won’t either.
In the immortal words of my dear ol’ 94 year old mother: ‘YOU THINK TOO GODDAMN MUCH – NOW GET OFF YOUR ARSE AND ENJOY WHAT’S OUT THERE WHILE YOU CAN.’
Dont do meaningless things then! And see what happens.
It’s quite simple.
You are born, you live, you die.
And one day a piece of rock somwhere off in space will hit Earth and BOOM the game is over, no more Earth.
In other words, you me and 6 billion others are insignificant. So just enjoy what you have and don’t sweat the big stuff because when they put you in the box you are just another has been.
What defines a dog? Or an ant? If you get caught up in that garbage you will wind up feeling worthless. LIVE CHILD LIVE!!!
who defines meaningful? seems to me that the individual does. dont judge yourself based on another’s criteria. live your life how you want and quit worrying about what you do having earth shattering implications.
Ashamed of who you are and wanting a shortcut to knowing what defines you as a human being?
We need a new category of Bitch for people who want life advice from a bunch of cranky bastards. OP, you are either in need of honest, face-to-face counsel or you are a glutton for fucking punishment. Ann Landers is thattaway —>
I’m not sure what your opinion is about all things astrological (and I”m not talking about the daily horoscope or your sun sign, I”m talking about progressions and transits, natal charts etc.).
Just a (hopefully) helpful suggestion but it may be of comfort to know that what you are describing is also an important astrological progression that happens to everyone during the years from age 28 to 30 years old, if you go to a search engine and type in SATURN RETURN, here is an example of the type of info you will find:
“Saturn Return: The Twenty-Ninth Year Few people describe Saturn Return as a pleasant period. While undergoing your Saturn Return you may find yourself turning inward and reflecting on your individual destiny. You examine your true needs and desires and the role you want to play on the world’s stage….”
Good luck with everything.
Live like Homer Simpson instead of Frank Grimes, aka Grimey.
