Why the hell were you riding your bike on the sidewalk? And in the dark, at that? It’s morons like you that give cyclists a bad name. I’m a cyclist too, but I keep it on the road, especially when there are pedestrians around.

I’m also tired of these here bloody cyclists not obeying all the traffic rules, either! Remember, cyclists are technically considered motor vehicles. That means they are supposed to stop for all pedestrians at crosswalks either marked or unmarked and wait for them to be completely across the street before moving on, must make a full and complete stop at all stop signs… no rolling stops, you crazy cyclists! Must signalize all turns. Must not ride on sidewalks… etc etc.
Anyway, I’m being a bit facetious here. Maybe it’s time to have proper rules for bicycles only, separate from those of cars?
What about children on bicycles? Inexperienced adult cyclists? Road or sidewalk for them? I don’t think the bicycling on road vs sidewalk debate is as black and white as it seems. There are gray areas too. Some streets are so narrow and dangerously trafficked that the sidewalk is the only sane option even for experienced cyclists. Respect for others, whether one is cycling on the road OR the sidewalk is the key.
Should bicycles be considered ‘motor’ vehicles? There is no motor to motorize them. They ARE a type of vehicle and if rolling on the road are governed by the same rules of the road as any other vehicle sharing the road space.
