To the woman Smoking at the top of Cornwallis Street Wednesday afternoon (waiting for the Community Cruiser, I’m guessing you work with the project based on your sweater) :
Don’t smoke in front on my window on a nice day. I can’t enjoy fresh air while reading because you need to dirty your lungs and everyone’s air. If you must have a self-destructive habit take up another drug that you can’t force me to “enjoy” with you when I just want to breath.

It never ceases to amaze me that people will bitch about this kind of stuff. Its like “Oh my God, that lady is really pissing me off! Fuck her, where’s my laptop?? The Coast is going to hear about this!!!”Just close your window or ask them to move. Anyway, they are on the sidewalk so its public property. Learn to accept it.
Love the way non-smokers always feel so personally victimized by smokers.
I really can’t believe that there is another one bitching about us smokers. In a sentence I say go fuck yourself, it’s a legal habit. What am I supposed to do, go live in a bubble. I behave responsibly, smoke down wind, use ashtrays where and when I can. Oh and by the way have I told you that you can seriously go fuck yourself. Sorry for the cursing, but this one really drives me over the wall, if you get my drift.
Burning Man, I hope you fart downwind too.
Hey Plonk, it was a smoking bitch, not a personal flatulence issue. Get your head out of the gutter already.
Burning Man, I think smoke and farts have a bit in common: They’re both toxic to the innocent bystander. And isn’t there a saying about people blowing smoke out of their ass? Smoking’s worse, I guess. At least farting doesn’t give you yellow teeth or lung cancer.Gutter? I don’t see any gutter?
Habits are great until they interfere with other peoples lifes. Does the x amount of meters law also apply to open windows (I THOUGHT it did but not 100%, if so in this case it would be an illegal habit, although I don’t think the laws always dictate whats best for society)Either way its his window, he chose not to smoke, she should not be outside imposing her choice on him. It is 100% legal for him to start playing porn loudly on his PC with her there, or throw water out the window, or something else that imposes his choice on her. I’d say, play ball! (Don’t use a beach ball on her, that’s mean!)
The Bad Guy, I’d say he can use the beach ball only if she’s a hippy.
Of course, a weapon as dangerous as a beach ball should be reserved for Evolve hippies high on e that smoke.By the way, don’t think I hate smokers. My girlfriend smokes, and she looks hot as hell when she does.
Seriously…Now even OUTSIDE we have to worry about offending non smokers….come on…yeah its a nice day but if the offending smoker was X amount of feet away from the entrance to a building then SHUT UR DAMN WINDOW and stop belly aching….
If you wanted fresh air you would step outside. An open window means shit all for fresh air because you are inside with all the shit that’s already stale in your room. And if you could ‘smell’ their smoke while they are outside waiting for a Community Cruiser then you are NOT getting fresh air because I garauntee you at least several times a day you are breathing in exhaust which would kill you more readily than some wiffs of a fag.Me, I live on the top floor of my apartment and I know I am not getting fresh air, not even in the slightest. If they are on the grass, ask them to move. If they are on the sidewalk standing and waiting, you need to get a and open another window and read.
So occupant now must smoke because the smoker chooses to smoke outside of his window?I think laws against drugs like weed are wrong, as weed smokers typically are not harming anyone. So it should be their choice. However, someone smoking outside my window is affecting me. That should be illegal before smoking weed in your own apartment.
The OP complains not being able to enjoy fresh air because of a near by smoker. News flash: the air blowing in that windows isn’t likely as fresh as you like to believe or think it is. The cigarette smoke going into that window is not the only toxic chemicals that are going into that window. You live in the city, FFS. I bet the dust in your humble abode is grey to blackish. You should put on a mask like the ones you see the armed forces wearing during chemical warfare. Try putting a filter over that open window, you’ll see the crap you let into your apartment.
