I live in a two story home that’s divided into two apartments. Out back there are two parking spots. One for downstairs, one for upstairs. Now I don’t have a car, but it seems whenever somebody who does have a car comes over and needs a place to park there’s a car in my spot. I had family from out of town visiting have to risk getting a ticket because they couldn’t park in the parking spot I pay for in my rent and had to park on the street. If you want to use that spot, pay a portion of my rent asshole!

If this car belongs to the other apartment, I’m sorry but you left a note on the car last time family came down and they parked in one of the spots saying “Wrong parking spot” So I wouldn’t let them park in your spot just in case. God forbid you have to walk the exact same distance but have to park on the other side of the gate which is literally less than 2 feet away from the parking spot that was yours. Not having a car the whole time I’ve been here, I didn’t know which of the two parking spots mattered since they are right next to each other and equal distance from the entrances to the house.

Bottom Line:
I know I don’t have a car, but when someone who visits does they have permission to park in my parking spot, you however don’t so move it! — If They Had Have Gotten A Ticket I Would Have Had Your Car Towed

  1. might as well get the big bang reference out of the way…

I think it’s time to steal a pylon to place in your spot and/or actively towing the cars that park there.

  2. I had that issue when I lived in a condo with a parking spot. Once someone was sitting in their car, as I walked over to them across the lawn they hurridly (SP?) drove off. I leave notes, and will call for a tow for repeat offenders (taking photos of it all). I’m even willing to pay the tow fee to teach someone a lesson.

Scarily enough, I had a neighbour who would have friends park in my driveway once I bought a house. I had said they could “IF” they asked first to make sure I didn’t need my driveway. A note or two and the green bin parked in front of their car on garbage day taught them a lesson.

  3. I rent a parking space downtown for over $100 a month and within 5 minutes of me leaving my 24/7 space, some twat from the nearby banking call centre will park there. One shitstain parked the car so close against the wall, I couldn’t see the back plate. I cannot believe the sense of entitlement some people have – I have to call parking enforcement at least twice a week – even though these idiots get towed away, there’s always someone else to replace them. So I just have to keep calling…

  4. i bet you wouldnt feel that way if you had to shovel that space out whether or not you had a car.

  5. Simple signage will set the facts straight for all to see. The property owner should be responsible for this.

  6. parking control will ticket and tow any vehicle in your spot, provided that you can show them a rental agreement that grants you the right to that parking space.

so, dust off that agreement and stick it to the side of your fridge.

  7. God forbid you have a conversation with your neighbour and sort out the parking situation in a cordial fashion. Just let them know when you have company and you’ll need the parking space.

  8. troodon, you have it backwards. I would say the neighbor needs to stop acting like a SET, and work out an agreement for a parking spot that he/she hasn’t paid for. OP is free to act on this anytime.

  9. Unless you are going to police it yourself, and stand out there in your spot, people will park there. I guess if you don’t have a car, you can’t understand. We just wanna get out, and do our thing. We really don’t care if it’s your spot ,or not. No sign threatening a fine, no worry. Why do you care if you don’t have a car? Take it up with your landlord. Chances are there is no discount for walkers.
