Love is love. Don’t tweet about someone’s style of love behind their back, bitch. So what if they’re gay? Hash tagging the f-word doesn’t make you anymore popular in your bitchy clique of friends. Stick to drinking and falling on your ass. —antihomophobiaproblems

and shitting your pants outside the bar….
and what the fuck does the hash tag DO anyways?
I am not a twit… therefor I do not tweet.
People have every right to use whatever word they want to use.
This has been weighing a little bit on my mind lately, so I’ll take this opportunity to rant.
Let’s take the N word for example. There’s no law that states you can’t say it, as far as I know.
However people tend to not say it in the presence of black people, why? Because they (black folks) typically don’t fucking stand for it.
Not let’s take this F word. What do gay people tend to do when people throw this word at them? Run and cry to whoever will listen that they’ve been offended. I’m sorry, but that’s not how you get people to respect you. Start standing up for yourselves and stop tolerating these insults and people will get a much clearer message. No one will or should feel sorry for people who can’t or won’t stand up for themselves.
I am in no way saying that it is in any way OK to berate, insult, or degrade people based on sexual orientation, but there was a time not all that long ago when people threw racial slurs around and nobody batted an eyelid. People of color stood up for themselves and refused to let people degrade them based on their race and now even racists are scared to spew racist slurs or views in public. Not because they give a shit about being PC, but because they know they run the risk of getting their ass kicked. Next up, homophobes. They won’t go away just cuz you whine and cry to your mommy or the media that they call you mean names. Someone calls you a fag, either ignore it or do something about it, running and crying only reinforces the idea that gay people are weak sissies.
As for OP, maybe you should let someone fight their own battle. It’s usually better that way.
My 2 cents. I’m sure some people will disagree, and accuse me of being homophobic.
What’s wrong with tweeting “fuck”. Fuck, you must be the one who lost their job at the CRTC for banning “Money For Nothing”.
Stop following the tweets of this person.
This reminds me of bullying. I am amazed that parents that are oh so applaud that bullying is going on as these kids are learning it from somewhere. If you are in your home and your kids her you going on about someone at work and you calling them names or making fun of them etc. Where do you think the kids are getting it from?? The adults. If you use words (such as a the N or F) in your home or in your social circle that are hurtful to people or a group of people than the words shouldn’t be used at all in any forum at all, private jokes (that aren’t so funny) are a thing of the past. I really wish people would clue in to this. Just because you may not use the word to the particular persons face makes it even more wrong and really show the weak person you are and how weak your friends must be.
Freedom of speech does allow for ignorance which is what needs in order to have full freedom of speech in our society. However, we are now relying on people to be respectful of others based on just doing the right thing. The problem with that is if you are sitting in your social circle or family setting dogging others for any reason your kids hear you and that is the morals and values you are sending them out in the world with. I would really hope that you would have better things to discuss in a family setting than putting down others and you call that your family or valued leisure time. Some people are negative they don’t even realize it.
The person that wrote that tweet is obviously getting the idea that it is okay if they still continue to have followers.
No TJ I don’t think your homophobic. But people that are being targeted can’t stand up for themselves if it is being done in a different circle and they are not aware of it firsthand. I think everyone needs to stand up to it.
Idealy yes Robyn but there’s no way to make that happen. Bullies always have and always will exist, and people have always feared what they don’t understand. Ignorant bigoted people will continue to instill their ignorance and bigotry in their children. You’re never going to be able to force or convince everyone to be cool with gays, or blacks or jews or whatever, nor should you try. People are entitled to their beliefs. Freedom is a two way street.
What we can do is stand up for ourselves, and I’m all for standing up for other people too, but not if they aren’t willing to do the same. I’m not going to stand up to someone because he called somebody a name, when the person who got called the name isn’t doing anything about it. That’s kind of.. patronizing for lack of a better word. I can’t always be there to protect someone, at some point they’ve gotta look out for themselves. The sooner people realize this the sooner they can stop being victims. I have no issue with gays, for example, peacefully protesting churches that preach to their congregation that they should reject their own child if the child is LGBT. That’s raising awareness, and I think that’s a very brave and productive thing to do for their cause. But to whine and complain that some asshole called you a fag, I’m sorry but wtf is anyone supposed to do about that? Tell them not to? Yeah, that’ll work. Should I go and risk MY safety and get in this guy’s face? Should I waste my breath and try to educate him and give him some sensitivity training? It’s not up to us to fight their battle, it’s up to them. I wish them luck and success, and I will help out any way I can if someone asks me, I have gay family members, co workers, my boss is gay, and my dear family friend, who I consider an honorary uncle, is gay. One of my main reasons for not being religious is that they preach that being gay is a sin, when in my opinion it hurts nobody and is a natural occurrence.
All I’m saying is no one is going to feel sorry for you if you’re not doing anything to make sure that people respect you. I used to get pushed around a lot, I made some changes over the years and now people listen when I talk and know what I will and won’t tolerate, and generally don’t fuck with me, try to take advantage of me, or disrespect me. I didn’t accomplish that my expecting strangers to step into the booth, strap on a cape and come to my rescue.
See what I’m saying?
Pragmatic approach Tommy … I get it. But it still makes my stomach turn when I hear people speak that way. If my personal safety or that of those around me isn’t at risk … my personal moral code will not allow me to stay silent and I exercise my right to make my thoughts known. It may or may not have an impact, but at least I’ve done what I can.
I do get what you are saying and I think our only difference is I worry about the people that aren’t as good at defending themselves. Some people just don’t have it in them so I like to believe that people can and would stand up for them. Whereas you expect everyone to have that trait or build that trait to defend themselves. Some people just really can’t do it alone. I as well don’t understand ‘victims’ because I won’t allow myself to be one either but I have learned one thing in life is that not everyone has the confidence to do it. When people are beat down and have never had anything or anyone to build their confidence they can’t defend themselves alone. It is just a personality thing at times.
Over the years I have always been surprised by jokes people will tell because everyone in the room is white and or strait. I am never popular at these type of functions because I will speak up and defend the people that are being made fun of, that are not in the room. I have even gone as far to make sure the speaker is apologizing for their behavior before the end of the night. I am very good at stopping someone in their tracks. I think everyone needs to take that stand to stop bully type behaviors.
Did you really rant at someone in Highfield in your red car?
Good convo Robyn, been a while since we had a new poster who was able to articulate and disagree with someone without being a total jerk-wad and resorting to name calling and all caps typing.
I say there’s a fine line between educating people and being a PC nazi. You can chastise people for making jokes, but I don’t think that accomplishes anything, people are still going to feel the way they feel. Not to mention it’s a joke. I’ve stuck up for gays in the past when my friends say ignorant things, but all I can do is disagree with them and state my reasons. I can’t change what they think, how they feel or what they believe. I’ve tried. By chastising them for their opinions and beliefs I feel no better than the homophobes. Tolerance, like freedom, is a two way street.
Jokes are jokes. If everything was PC we’d barely get any laughs. Damn near every comedian has a laugh at someone else’s expense. Everyone should be able to, and have every right to make fun of each other. I laugh my ass off when Dave Chappelle makes fun of white men, for example. I know it’s different because white men have kind of been running the world for the last few centuries and we’re far from an oppressed minority, but what’s the sense in getting my shorts in a knot about how Dave feels? I would feel like such a lame bastard getting offended by what someone else thinks, says or feels. It’s just words, and it’s just ignorance, and no matter how “right” or “wrong” or “politically correct” their views might be they are entitled to them. Either laugh it off or do something about it, don’t expect someone else to come to your defense. I have black friends that laugh at shows like Family Guy when they make jokes and stereotype black people. It’s jokes! Life’s too short to be getting offended every time someone makes a joke at your expense. If someone however were to say something demeaning and inflammatory to them, they wouldn’t look at me like “are you going to handle this?” They’d be up in that ass immediately, or they’d take the high road or they’d trade verbal insults or whatever. They would never in a million years go and cry about it to someone else. That’s just the kind of people I associate with, easy going but strong people, not fucking pussies.
I guess there’s nothing wrong with sticking up for someone who’s not around to defend themselves, I’m just very cautious when it comes to fighting other people’s battles, it’s very seldom worth it. I just don’t laugh at the joke if I don’t find it funny. I might say “that’s not funny” or “That was in poor taste”
As for your personality argument I kinda have to call bullshit. I hate the word “can’t”. If you “can’t” stand up for yourself then you’re pretty much fucked in this world. I say learn, everyone is capable of it. I have no sympathy for cowards. I’ve stood up to people twice my size, was it scary? Yes, did I really want to do it? No. Confidence comes from within. I can’t imagine being an adult and saying or thinking “I don’t have the confidence to stand up to that asshole who is calling me names” I’m a pothead, I’m peaceful by nature but I’ve learned that there is a time when being passive and peaceful puts you at a huge disadvantage. So if you really truly “can’t” stand up for yourself, the harsh reality is that you’re going to have to put up with being treated like trash and disrespected.
I get offended sometimes, but never on behalf of other people. I have enough of my own anger/outrage to deal with.
No I didn’t really yell at anyone, that bitch was submitted by that godzilla guy who was trolling me the other day. He knows where I live and what car I drive because I told him, because I wanted to prove to him and any other trolls that I wasn’t scared of some idiot on a message board. Maybe not the smartest thing to do but I’d rather be confronted than call someone names while hiding behind a keyboard and an alias. Besides, I’ve stated before where I live and what I drive, if anyone really wanted that information they could find it. You could google Tommy Jules and find my myspace page which I’m pretty sure has my real name and stuff, and then you can find my facebook, twitter, probably my e-mail. Go nuts, trolls.
Anyways I think we’re done here, yes? We’ve heard what each other have to say, and I commend you for fighting the good fight, you sound like a great person, but I just hope you don’t spend too much time being offended by what someone thinks. I tend to feel more sorry for ignorant people than wish ill upon them or try to “correct” them. It’s simply not worth stressing over.
Cheers Robyn, I get the feeling this won’t be our last exchange.
I once knew a guy from England who said they use that word as slang for cigarettes, thought that was odd 🙂 I recommend you call these people on it OP, don’t let them make you feel bad for even a minute! That’s their hangup and their loss they will go through life very lonely, close minded, and not know as such love as you! 🙂
Glad to hear you don’t rant and scare families in your little red car. 🙂 I would have been disappointed for some strange reason.
Yes I know I can’t fight the fight for everyone but something’s I am very passionate about. People who think they are superior than others based on race etc. really bothers me to the core.
However, we have lead this bitch to an end, so yes I would agree we are done here. It is nice that there are people on here that can make you think and give you different perspectives. I have so far enjoyed my time here. 🙂
I am not sure if you are brave or just insane to post your info as there seems to be people on here that would indeed show up on ones doorstep. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.
See you on the next hot topic of the day!
🙂
feel free tommy…
the rest of us’ll just keep hiding behind the internet

fuck you speech nazi with high-school problems. Is it your twitter account? No? then it’s not your business.
Period.
Was that tweet from Scouts?
In the year 2011 we are still having this discussion? Its moronic to sit at a pc typing things like I have the right to call ppl names if I wanna, cause there is no law lol. This is obviously coming from a person who believes, “laws are there to protect the criminals”, and “politically correctness has run rampant on our beliefs”.
Its very hard to have these discussions with the protection of the internet, there is no real communication here, just idle banter. The laws are there to protect everyone, its like a guideline, like speed limits. When e limit is 110 kmph that actually means maximum speed like the sign says. If it is bad weather the police can fine you for driving too fast for conditions at the time.
The laws with speech do not protect anything you say idiot, with this stance you must also disagree with the people who agree with banning any discussion of the new/nazi halocaust in public?, see laws like that are not there to protect the jews, they are there to protect everyone.
When people have no faith in the law and the protections it provides, ppl will begin dealing with things on their own. And then people who refuse to stand against the evil of biggotry get lumped in with the biggots, and that would be you tom. And you get hanged with the other opressors because there is no sitting out, not when the stakes are so high.
When your actions infringe on mine, your rights are void as of that moment child, similar to if you don’t have car insurance. When you break the law by not having insurance you get no compensation. If you rent a house and it floods but you do not have insurance, any damage to your stuff and any related costs are up to you.
If someone is stupid enough to believe the law will protect them, they usually end up in jail. Hence why jails are so full, ppl are very stupid. They put the self in jail most times. Go ahead and stand by while it happens, just hope im not around. Last person on a bus was that girl who died in north end dart with her sister, stabbed by her sisters bf.
I got on the bus and she said something about”if that faggot looks back here I’ll smack the face off his head”, I asked who she is speaking to, she retaliated with a barrage of nonsence, I said some stuff she didn’t like which made her attack me. I fked her up pretty good then and she was dead a few weeks later. Dumb cunt
My hands are shaking remembering this atm. 🙂
it would be even funnier if it was rick santorum http://thedailywh.at/2011/12/10/fun-fact-o…
