  1. Matt,You are right on buddy!What is with the ‘sound guy’ that doesn’t have a fucking clue. I’ve refused gigs because of the ‘sound’ provider. Any band should refuse to be bastardised by bad sound.

  2. Dude, more speakers are not the solution to poor acoustics. Room renovations, acoustic paneling on the walls and ceiling, and properly hung PA systems are all factors, but some of the bars in this town are in such oddly shaped rooms that nothing’s going to truly fix the problem. More speakers may help poor coverage patterns or help fill a long room if used properly as delays, but they won’t do much for the acoustics.You’re dead on about the loudness though – a lot of the “sound techs” the bars around here hire go a little nuts on the volume. There are some first-rate sound guys/girls in Halifax, unfortunately a lot of bars are too cheap to pay for someone with real knowledge and skill.In short – I agree with the essence of what you’re saying, I disagree on a technicality or two.
