What kind of brain must you have to deface your 20-something body & face with tattoos that will be fucking meaningless in a couple of decades? I totally understand a well-thought out tattoo that has a lifelong meaning to someone (such as a person surviving a serious illness) but the trash I see emblazoned these days are as meaningful as the ass cheeks of a Kardashian. Don’t these silly little wonks ever think of the big picture? —Your Tattoos Are Fucking Hideous, Especially The Tear Drops
This article appears in Sep 8-14, 2016.

OP, watch yourself. Last time I wrote a comment about tear drop tattoos, the moderator erased it. Adding to the long list of things “the coast” is sensitive about. You can’t joke about woman, the lgbtq… community, “tough” guys with tear drops and many more. No fun, “the coast”, is no fun.
Wow! Someone is OLD.
Why are you so concerned with what someone else does to their own body?
If only people could muster as much outrage over sexual violence, environmental degradation, child poverty, or government corruption as they so easily express over other people’s tattoos, baggy pants, Uggs, and Crocs. The changes we could make in the world!
Try to imagine how little I care.
I wouldn’t worry about it. The world has bigger fish to fry – as was pointed out above. You could always invest in tattoo removal technology and profit from it. Anyway, it’s all a passing fad like beards are and sideburns and goatees were. A future generation will differentiate themselves from their parents by being clean shaven, not getting tattoos or piercings …. and maybe even refusing to be a slave to a smart phone. Hallelujah!
@cranky
Which came first though. Did the scooter make them fat or do they have an medical condition beyond their control like hypothyroidism or cushings that made them fat then required the scooter?
I think they need to eat less Big Macs and move around some.
A lot of medical conditions are made worse by being fat, so scooters are not only keeping those people fat but also hurting their health in the long run.
TOSG, So because someone has a condition that make’s them fat, they can’t exercise at all? Not even walk around a store for 20 minutes?
My mother rides a scooter. She is also fat. The scooter didn’t make her fat, and it doesn’t keep her fat. About 8 years ago, she had a stroke. She has limited mobility, poor balance, and no endurance. No, she actually can’t walk around a store for 20 minutes. She might be able to do 5 minutes with a walker before becoming exhausted. Being unable to do any physical activity, she has gained a lot of weight since her stroke. No, she doesn’t stuff her face with Big Macs every day. Fixed income, you know. Without that scooter, she would not be able to leave her apartment, never mind do her own shopping.
Jesus. A little compassion wouldn’t kill you people. You don’t know everything, or in fact anything, about a person’s circumstances just by looking at them.
“The data states that, across Canada, 33.6 per cent of adults are overweight; in Nova Scotia, that number is 37.5 per cent.
The national average when it comes to obese people, which is defined as a body mass of 30 or higher, is 18.3 per cent.
But in Nova Scotia, 25.1 per cent of people are considered obese.
The province also sticks out when it comes to those who are severely obese: 2.3 per cent of Nova Scotians would fall into that category compared with the national average of 1.6 per cent.”
But yeah, everyone knows an exception, right?
I’m not an exception. I’m fat and it’s my own fault. However, the fucks I give about what anyone thinks about it are zero.
Yeah, it’s a good thing most strokes aren’t caused by poor diet, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, etc… go ahead, defend your mother’s poor choices. Most illnesses like diabetes, (type 2), stroke, heart attacks, liver damage, kidney issues, etc… are self inflicted. I’m sure there are some small percentage of each that are caused by something other than diet, level of exercise and being health conscious, but I think the numbers are pretty small.
Also, if your mother ate appropriate portions of healthy food, did as much exercise as possible and weighed near her optimum weight, it wouldn’t be so hard for her to get around. I’m not saying this to be a dick, as I’ve struggled with weight my whole life and that struggle never ends. People don’t like to hear this shit, but I know I will have no one to blame but myself when those diseases come knocking. For now, I eat healthy, exercise, don’t smoke or drink, no processed foods and the last will be trying to rid myself of added sugars altogether. My only vice is weed, and I ain’t gonna give that up anytime soon. Fuck it, if the reaper comes because of weed…I’ll smoke a joint to that!
A tip of my vape to you, Furious Poprah. Like yourself, I’ve struggled with weight all my adult life & cannot understand how someone can weigh well over 300 pounds yet blame their fatness on the very things that she/he shovelled into their fat, greedy gobs fistfuls at a time. Wouldn’t you clue in after the first 100 overweight pounds that maybe you were eating like a fucking starving manatee? I agree totally with you, Poprah. Obesity is largely preventable and it’ll be our tax monies paying to keep them alive with their assorted preventable ailments. Charging additional tax on fast food & junk food would help reduce the burden on taxpayers.
My Dad is in his 70s, various bouts with cancer (thank you, agent orange) and whatnot. You know how he’s spending his retirement? He walks to the gym 5 days a week and works the weights and treadmills. Hospital lines would be a lot shorter if people lived like that instead of spinning their wheels in an electric scooter, but yeah, lets not judge. Fuck that, I say.
Most of the overweight people I know aren’t physically disabled and don’t have a health condition (at least not yet!). Their problem is that their response to negative emotions – stress, anger, loneliness, boredom, whatever – is to try to eat their way through them. They are addicted to the high and momentary happiness they get from certain foods (sodas, ice cream, biscuits, burgers, etc.).
So, I see excess weight and obesity as a function of mental health and isolation moreso than being a character defect. If we want to reduce obesity I think we need to help people find a better way of dealing with their other problems.
Just think at how good your tats will look when you are old and obese and your tats have stretched and are all distorted and you can no longer tell what they are supposed to be, or when you are old and skinny and all your skin has stretched and is now sagging and wrinkled and your tats are now a hot mess. Way to make yourself stand out and not in a good way.
People always pull out that ‘your tats are gonna be ugly when you’re old’ thing.
Fuck, who cares? I’ll be old. Give a fuck factor will be 0.
The fatter you are the more tats you can get. Fat tats, so to speak!
Cranky, by virtue of his name and by nature, could give a rats ass about the villagers and small children.
Hehehe Cranky, why you so cranky? Tattoos are hideous.
Cranky’s tat ink is poisoning his brain.
If so many comments showed apathy towards people’s tattoos, why is so much of the forum dedicated to caring about fat people? “Because of healthcare dollars and tax payers” might be the response, but tattoos can also cause a battery of health problems sooooo… maybe read on to the other bitches?
Tattoos cause health problems? Proof please.
^^ @OC “Proof please”.
The immediate risks are well known – infection due to improper sterilization of equipment.
The longer term risks are more uncertain due to poor regulation of ink ingredients. They may contain heavy metals.

It seems then, that it is the inadequate operator who causes the illnesses, not the tattoo.
It is the responsibility of the tattoo customer to ask the right questions before purchase to ensure quality of product.
