I get it now! It was in my face on CBC news the other day. Jim Nunn wanted to know what Dartmouth leadership had to say about 3 shootings in a single week. Exuding testosterone all over my television set the woman was so tough and so smug, she lectured how only people involved in criminal activity get shot so if you dont want to get shot dont engage in criminal activity. Can the blinders be lifted any higher on this leaders face? What a pathetic, spineless stance for a democrat! On the very same day citizens in BC stage a large protest for the legalization of pot as a major step towards reducing violence on the streets. In the East theyd have innocents caught in the crossfire and do nothing but shrug while in the West theres some forward thinking going on. Whats wrong with you people? Dont you watch national/world news? Can you not learn from what has been effective elsewhere? Why would our leaders deny simple reality?
I shouldnt have to say it but I will. What if the shooter missed and the bullet went right through the wall and killed the child sleeping, not criminalizing, in the adjacent apartment? Thats only one reason to not let criminals kill each other. What if your 14/15 year old child fell into the wrong crowd for a single day and ended up at a house after school where big brother is the big pot dealer? Our idiot leaders simply shrug hoping theyll all kill each other and dam the children for living. Dam them again for learning!
Im sorry. I dont believe Canadians should do nothing while violence erupts in the city. My neighbours are dying and so are their children! Whether the leaders of Dartmouth admit it or not, people are afraid and they should be!

We have leaders who during one event fight the people who dont want to see their road widened and during the next theyre raising the bridge tolls to discourage driving. Hello?
We have leaders who introduce law to enable crime fighters and in the next breath they say the criminals will take care of things by killing each other, no worries. Hello?

Quite honestly, most of the so-called “leaders” around here couldn’t win a one person race to a three hole outhouse. Most decisions that get made in HRM are usually based on misguided ideology, or personal gain for the individual making the decision.
maybe if we just let all the baddies do each other in,and we duck for cover,then we won’t have such a high crime rate in hrm.ever notice that there was never any of thse so called guardian angels around most of last year,nice jacket,why get it bloodied,right.but on a very serious note,maybe someone should look the other way,when some of thses bad people get offed,wink,wink,to hfx.cops.or maybe some old fashioned vigilante justice is called for here.either way,it has to stop,not decrease,just stop dead in it’s track.if you don’t supoort this,then you are probly part of the problem too.
That “leader” was Gloria McClusky, ex-mayor of Dartmouth. Seems she should give up her seat to a person with more vision if that’s the best she can do
I just have to laugh. Most of the residents of Dartmouth can’t figure out when something good has come their way.
Look at Sensations, they whined and bitched and complained to get rid of that place. Now they’re wondering why the crime rate is higher. Hmm might be because the larger police presence that came with Sensations left with Sensations…

For such a small town EVERYONE has a gun or knife….I have lived in Ontario for 20 years and Halifax for 8 months, during my time here I have heard more gun related incidents then ever in the ‘oh so big and dangerous Toronto’

I too come from the “Big City” so was quite appalled to hear about all the gang, racial and drug violence in such a small population. Perhaps getting-your-own-way 101, frivolous bitching 201 and FTW 301 courses are taught in the elementary schools. The Maritimes have proven FAR from friendly over the past two years I’ve lived here. I’m desperate to leave lest I become “one of them”.
