I won’t be making a donation this year as HRM stole your money. You see, I parked at the Bloomfiled Centre overnight (1-8am) because of their damn parking ban. I had rented a car to visit a friend who was unable to come home for Xmas. Apparently, you have to PAY to use it. Given my low income, I can’t give you a donation as I had to pay the fine. Perhaps Peter will assist you in some way?!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t someone way back in the summer discover that if you weren’t from Halifax, there was no way they could make you pay a parking ticket? I can’t tell from the OP’s bitch if they were visiting said friend or just parked the rented car there for the night, but is someone going to be able to chase them down for that money?

Good point Hollah. It’s also worth wondering whether it’s an official parking ticket for the Parking Ban, or if it’s one of those ones that private parking lots dole out for overstaying your welcome a la Waterfront Development Corp.

Besides, am I the only one who feels that this whole bitch is contrived? Right, you had to rent a car to see a friend (and you have a “limited” income?), and you just couldn’t find a parking spot. HRM is a charity too; they take charitable donations from morons like you who can’t find proper parking and plan ahead.

hollah! – the OP rented a car and the car owner will be responsable if not paid by the driver. But car rental places keep your credit card number on file and the rental agreement usually states they can charge the card if am outstanding ticket is discovered later on.
