You guys are tools. Here is the story:
I was leaving my place to go get some groceries when I spotted a black dog wandering around near the road. Clearly there was no owner in sight. The dog was docile and I noticed an HRM registration on his collar, so I brought him inside.
I looked on Kijiji for missing pets, no dice. I called the vet on quinpool and they were closed. I decided to go against my gut instinct and call animal control.
You are a dumb fuck. I told you I had found a dog and you told me I had two options. ‘You’ were telling ‘me’ I had two options. Those rediculous options were:
Option 1: let animal control come and pick up the dog, which would cost the owner at least 125 dollars, maybe more.
Option 2: Let the dog go.
You cocksucker; I told you he had an HRM registration tag, why couldn’t you just give me the owners phone number. Whats that? Against policy to give out that kind of information? Fair enough, why don’t you take the registration number, look up the owner, call the owner, and give the owner my phone number?
You douche, you wouldn’t even do that. You laughed in my face when I told you I would figure it out on my own. I hung up on you.
I made a call to the metro animal emergency shelter, they ran the dogs rabies tag, and put me in touch with the owner. Within 15 minutes the dog was back home, only 1 block away from me.
This whole event furthers my belief that bureaucracy is the bane of a civilized society. I hope you lose something important to you and never get it back.

Poor puppy! I am glad that you found it’s home!
They’re useless. Animal-haters use them to enable their hatred of animals via HRM’s nuisance bylaw. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.
Mail this to the herald my friend. Someone might want to print it. You are a good person.
congrats on the due diligence….
they seem to be quite the money-grab because it’s obvious they don’t have the animal’s best interest in mind.
The reason animal control wouldn’t give you any (reasonable) options is because they want $$$ from the pet owner.
there was a deer running down windsor st near the forum with no bottom jaw last year so i call animal control she sounded really bored but i thought hey maybe she gets alot of calls like this. so i call wildlife control the response was oh it will tire itself out and go back to the woods i don’t think so there were many sitings that day with people almost running it over. so my advice do it yourself if you can. call the radio stations they are probably more helpful or what we all decided that day was to buy a tranquilizer gun..it could come in handy
your a good man/woman
Thank you for doing such a huge favour for that dog and it’s owner. I REALLY hope The Coast publishes this one. Please please PLEASE write to the Herald! This story needs to be heard!
awesomely done!
