  1. I’ve known people who have gone through the same thing as you OP…system sucks but I really think you should request a new worker… after all they are supposed to be your representative…not hide from you.

  2. Don’t cry the poverty blues when you plainly state in your previous bitch that you passed up the opportunity to earn 50 smackeroos. ^^^

  3. Spending money? For what? You are on the tax-payer dollar and Mr. Taxpayer does not have “spending money” after working 35 hours a week so why the hell should you?

This would be the perfect time to look at renting a room …. a bed is all that is required for a decent nights sleep. You can share the expenses. $535 each would get you a fairly better place than you can currently afford but granted this would probably be out in the burbs but it’s not like you have to get up and go to work each morning. Problem solved and your bitch is denied!

  4. I’m with Koda…had the same question with regard to your desire for extra spending money. If you CAN’T work ANYWHERE for some reason then you should consider renting a room. I work 40 hrs a week and make about 1,600 a month (I actually make a lot more than that but I pay taxes…) My rent is 800, my groceries are 200, telephone/internet/cable almost 200, power 80, tranportation 80, other (cleaning supplies, haircuts, shoes etc) we’ll say 100-150 PER MONTH. So as you can see OP, you and I are in pretty much the same boat and I work full-time. Sorry if I can’t sympathize.

  5. If my hard earned tax dollars aren’t enough for you you to live a lifestyle that allows you “spending money”, then feel free to root through my garbage and pick out the bottles.

I work 60 hours a week and pay enough in taxes to support a family of 4 on welfare every month. I have absolutely no sympathy!!!!

  6. Welfare wasn’t meant to support you (unless you are physically or mentally disabled), it’s supposed to be a bridge from not working to working again.

I worked for 40+ years to get what I have and I’m fucking tired of handing out my tax money to pay for some bag of toxic waste to sit on his/her duff. I’ve seen more people suck off the system’s tit than I wanted to, which included some nasty ass cunts who squeezed out enough babies to earn good coin while enjoying bad habits I couldn’t afford as a working person. Some of these festering wounds bred a couple of generations of work shy whiners and it’s time we stopped with the handouts.

Get off your ass and take control of your own future, OP, instead of screaming in CAPS here like a self-entitled moron. By the way, how were you able to afford a computer and monthly internet? Typing in the public library, are we? Yeah…..right.

  7. My mother cried when she had to request financial aid while I was growing up because she felt so ashamed she couldn’t make enough working full time. And you’re bitching about not having spending money while nearly 100% of your rent is covered. You fucking disgust me.

  8. Ever think of, oh, say, getting a job?

    Also, I’m with SwampDonkey.

People like you disgust me with your sense of lazy entitlement.

You want to be treated better? Be a productive member of society and stop living off the public tit and MAYBE you’ll get a little bit of respect.

  9. OP, I don’t know what your situation is. You might be between jobs, raising children, health issues, or in need of of some serious re-training, etc. But there is one thing in common about all of these, you need to realize that the assistance that you are on should be used for you to make adjustments and changes to your life. Don’t fear and hate this time. Embrace it as an opportunity.

OP, I get it, you see what you are being paid and you are pissed off. But my best advice is not to try to make your current income work for you, I suggest that you make your time work for you. Use this time to do what you have to do.

  10. Here’s the thing op. Rent in NS is cheaper than anywhere else. It’s not that it’s expensive. It’s that you are on welfare, judging from your details.

Life isn’t easy for those who don’t work. If you were disabled, you’d get disability. If you’re just not working and pulling welfare, be prepared to not make ends meet.

Sorry. I have very little sympathy for those able bodied, able minded folks who just don’t work. You’re learning the hard lessons. You mortgaged your future and now you’re learning your lesson. Remember the whole “consider your future” talk your teachers gave you in school? THIS IS THE ALTERNATIVE if you didn’t listen.

Get a roommate. It’s all you can afford.

Unless you get a job. Which i suggest you do. Because it WILL NOT get any easier. Here or anywhere else. Listen to what others said and DO THE WORK necessary to get your life in order. Nobody is here to cater to you. So stop getting angry at us that DID work hard and make the effort because we’re not shelling out enough of our paychecks to cater to the lazy entitled asses who just flat our refuse to work.

Maybe you’re not one of these people. But it sure sounds that way.

Sorry. I flat out REFUSE to pay higher taxes. We pay enough and WE WORK OUR ASSES OFF for the privilege to do so.

  11. A lot of you people don’t realize being on disability won’t get you more money….OP is right, the rent for a bedbug-infested shithole is just under what you receive on assistance, and then you have zero dollars after bills to cover food for a full month.

When I was on disability in Halifax, I couldn’t even afford to buy a bus pass…which was supposed to be factored into my monthly budget…..I had to go to the food bank on the regular, I dumpster dove, and garbage picked to support myself further…and getting harassed and dirty-eyeballed by residents when I did so did nothing to help my deteriorating mental issues.

When I moved to Calgary and got on disability there, they at least helped out a lot more where rent and monthlies were concerned, but they have bad mental health care.

My now-husband helped me move out of the country and I currently enjoy a 100% stress free lifestyle on pennies a day in the Philippines.

  12. There are some great ideas here op. I’m sure getting a room mate or renting a room would go along way with your pocket book.

Plenty of good rooms out there. i have one priced well under your welfare amount that would leave you plenty of money left for whatever.

    There are other options.

  13. What, poor people STILL don’t have what non-poor people have? How the fuck is this still happening?!? OP, since I stopped contributing to my health plan so I could pay other bills I have a bit extra at the end of the month, do you want some? PSYCHE! fuck you.

  14. For whatever reason your on the system. Look up the guidelines for them and you will find out what you can and can’t get. Don’t blame the worker. Most on thr system are lucky to have a roof over their head.

  15. I thought bedbugs were the problem. You po-folk deal with ticks as well. Bummer. Hey, here’s Cranky not giving a fuck about your bedbugs or your ticks. Jane Kansas sob story didn’t get a lot of traction this week either, guess that tells The Coast something.

  16. Sounds like you are using the system.. If you have enough time to come online and bitch then you have enough time to go on line and apply for jobs. If you don’t have the skills to get a job then talk to your worker to get the skills then get a fucking job! I know someone who is on social because he is UNABLE to work and he gets just about the same for rest as you mentioned.. he does fine for him self. Yea his apartment is small and not in the greatest place in hfx, and he can’t go out for food or shopping at the mall unless he saves up but he doesn’t complain. He gets what he needs to live and that’s what social is there for. If you want a better life for yourself take some of these peoples advice.. a lot of the comments on this bitch are dead on!
