What a good boy am I… so it’s off to Sackville and Grafton for a small lunch… BLT and fries…”d’yawan cheese on that?”… sure… and so, sandwich okay, basic, but WTF!…
Two bucks extra for the processed cheese slice?! TWO dollars for ONE plastic wrapped cheese slice! I want to say someone needs their head examined… but it was the good boy who paid the bill. —Cheesed Off

As a waitress working in Dartmouth I believe that it is up to the customer to read the menu and what they are ordering…..I’m sure your waitress wouldn’t want to hear about your $2.00 complaint that he or she has no control over… Note: to all patrons of bars/resturants…..your waitress 99% of the time has no say how things are priced on the menu so why do you insist on giving him or her a hard time trying to get something for free when im sure theres plenty of other tables to be serving or duties to be doing. Then if they appologise for not being able to credit your $2.00 back you give the worker a bad tip! READ THE MENU……if you can’t afford the 2 bucks, you prob didn’t tip good anyways and you shouldnt be out dining! No offence but its CHEESE!
I’ve been in the business for 25 yrs on and off and I don’t know what some owners are thinking sometimes; 2 bucks for good real cheddar/swiss yes, process not so much
Say cheese: The OP didn’t say anything to the waitress about the cost of the cheese. And regardless, the bitch is about the COST of said cheese, not about the waitress and there was not mention of a tip, small OR large. Sounds like you need to get out of the serving industry if you’re going to flip out like that, most of your rant has little to do with the actual bitch at hand.
OP: $2 for cheese is ridiculous. I wish could be sure which restaurant you were talking about so I could avoid it at all costs from now on.
Say cheese sounds like she is ready to go off on one of her customers any day now. Heaven forbid I go into her establishment and my burger comes with lettuce on it, against my orders.
And two bucks for extra processed cheese? I have never actually eaten here but after looking at their menu they are charging just as much for cheese as they do for additional “premium bacon”…. It’s where they get you I guess. I mean who wants to eat half the stuff you get in bars without cheese on it. Unfortunately the price of cheese is going up in general but even a certain Beantown pizza joint only charges $2.90 for cheese on a large pizza. And I am pretty sure it’s not processed.
It sucks when these things happen all the time. “say cheese” Is completely right! It is not the servers fault at all. She/He is doing exactly what they are suppose to do, their job. It is amazing how many people will not tip after the server breaks the news. As a server its hard to go to every table and explain the “fine print” every single time when people want their fast service in half the time, besides are you even listening to us anyways?
All in all. Its the restaurant/owner are the ones who makes up the prices and all the changes to the menu. So next time, maybe read carefully and be considerate. Servers make a living off of tips, and yes alot of us are starving students too!
answer, stop eating with cheese, fuck it all, just had to say it people.
ok… some people read way too much into the whole situation… SC and NIH
it wasn’t that (s)he was mad at anyone… unless you count the Rtard who thinks cheese slices are 2 bucks a pop. you can get a WHOLE BURGER WITH CHEESE for less than that at the golden arches.
This place is insane and I will surely never go there.
Wow newbie, you are out of context too! This bitch was never about the server….. It was about the price of cheese. For all we know this person likely tipped the server according to his/her service. It’s true that anyone who bases their tip on anything out of the control of the server is not being very considerate, but in this situation, that is irrelevant.
And really, how hard is it to remind the customer when ordering, “oh, and that extra cheese is $2”? I know it is clearly printed on the menu, but don’t always assume that the customer is a genius. In fact, never assume it…. if you want tips, do everything you can to make sure all the customer’s needs are met. If you’re going to upsell, let them know just what they are getting into. And yes- I have worked in the food service industry, and not at any fast food joints either.
Take your own cheese next time and have them put it on. $2.99 for 24 slices of Kraft.
I ask you all…could the server not mention that having cheese was $2.00 extra ?
I can see, .50 cents for a slice of no name plastic cheese…but 2 bucks damn, on a approximately $8 dollar cost for 48 slices…. that an $88.00 return ! ! !
they’re making some serious coin on a lousy product !
zZz— the burgers at the mentioned bar are far better than the ones at McDirty’s… Even after paying for cheese, all of this considering that the OP probably got the special; $5.95 for two burgers and fries. So, $7.95 plus maybe $5 for a beer, it’s a good deal, and the menu states that cheese is extra.
I just wish they kept the peanuts.
dido. what pushed me away was lack of peanuts as well.
and my point about the burger was that crappy, processed cheese is cheap.
Yeah, it’s the waitresses fault for not mentioning the extra cost. As a ex-waitress the proper way to NOT piss off customers is to mention any extra charges that you suggestive sell.
Dr. Fever, the OP got BLT with fries. It says so in the bitch.
Oh GOD, I hate this place that the OP is talking about. Haha. The server I had one time was a complete bitch. Nothing to do with cheese, though.
Now that I finally figured out where we’re talking about I will say that I stopped going there a good 5 years ago when I waited over an hour for a coke and some potato skins on a not even particularly busy night. The potato skins were ice cold and I had to ask for my coke 3 times.
Im just saying that “i was a good boy and paid the bill” So in otherwards you contimplated bitching about it till you got what you wanted or walking out on ur tab. Either way the waiter or waitress would have had to pay for it! A burger platter….2 burgers is 5 bucks and I think on Tuesdays….a 14 oz steak is $5.95 !!!!!!! Me and a few friends ate there a few weeks ago and the steak was a wikked cut, so nice! My bill came to 20 bucks and i had 3 beer…..so if they wanna charge 2 bucks for a peice of cheese im fine with it…make up the costs elsewhere where it is an option to get it for the customer! And I am not a bad waitress at all! TIPS= To insure proper service….My tips reflect that even though im working in a not so busy place in Dartmouth Im complinsated for the service I give and the smile I put on to deal with people when they want to bitch about there 2 dollar cheese!
DQ does something similar with it’s combos. In huge letters the sign reads, “CHOOSE YOUR SIDE!” It offers fries, salad, onion rings or something else. Then below it in very small writing it says, “Substitutions cost $0.75 extra.” The staff don’t tell you that choosing rings or salad constitutes a substitution.
It’s the only time I left my tray at a table and helped myself to a few (free) newspapers.
It says that onion rings and salad costs extra (it does say that), but it says it under in small letters that make you think you have a choice that won’t cost you extra.
I think it’s more than 75 cents too. It’s pretty sneaky.
zZz tell me that you weren’t serious when you called the crap at Rotten Ronnie’s burgers.
As for the price of the cheese? No doubt it’s pretty hefty, but then so was the cost of you going to school to learn to read or ask questions.
I can see maybe 50 cents tops for a slice of cheese, 2 bucks is a cash grab. Don’t spend it, and this “plum” of an establishment will wise up. It pays to ask questions before agreeing to anything OP.
Also, I have a big hate on for non fast-food restaurants that charge for refills of fountain pop. Cans and bottles I can understand, but fountains? That’s “Durty”
