Is most food not salty enough?
Everything prepared hot that you buy for a quick lunch at the two major food stores is so fucking salty that I am tempted to chuck it on my stoop so I won’t fall in the snow on my way back to the store to complain about the inedible crap I just paid for. I should know better but when you’re starved….. serves me right I guess.

  1. I agree, food is way too overloaded with salt. Its a cheap way to disguise sloppy food as good tasting. If its made ready to go, comes precooked in a box or wrapper its probably loaded with sodium.

  2. they salt the chicken? they salt the pizza? they salt the wings? chicken tenders?

I’ve never had a problem with salt so long as you stay away from the taters or roast potatoes. Where are you that there isn’t any other alternatives around?
sounds like a good place to set up shop.

  3. i’ll let you in a littl secret, food prepared in restaurants, fast food places, and the like, are not supposed to add any salt at all.allergies and all that shit.the place doing this can be subject to a fine and/or license suspension,if reported.this is /was under the canada safe foods act.unless specifically stated on menu, there is to be no added spices, unless it’s a custom food like chlli, curry,or shit like that.even pizza dough is salt free in the joints you gey the fresh dough made up,on site.

  4. *sigh* if you eat in any restaurant that is a chain, located in an industrial park, or has a drive through there is plenty, plenty, plenty of salt to go around without the ‘cooks’ having to add any after they’ve ripped open the bag of marinara they’re ‘cooking’ or opened the can of au jus they’re ‘whipping up’. Bust out those boulion cubes for that ‘homemade’ Irish Stew and you’ll have enough salt to pickle a load of cod heading for the Old World.

  5. The heart meds I’m on make my BP go low so I’m encouraged to eat salt and it just so happens I’m in love with it. I LOVE SALT. I put salt on everything, even dill pickles and toast and bacon and ham…mmm salt.

I’m not even being sarcastic either. And my BP holds steady at around a nice 110/70.

  6. If you don’t like salt, for certain items, you can specify salt free. This especially works to your benefit for things like fries cause then they have to make new and fresh fries that are nice and hot.

  7. I hate salt. Its only good for melting ice and mixing with water to swish around and clean my throat.

  8. Salt makes everything better… mmm…

but only to a point. I hate all that pre-processed crap that is laden with salt for the purpose of a) making sure it lasts forever and b) making up for blandness in the laziest way ever.

  9. I once got a ham sandwich at a certain grocery store and after I ate it I noticed the nutrtion facts. 68% of your daily sodium intake…I felt like puking. Serves me right for assuming it was healthy.

  10. Of course, chain restos aren’t the only culprits for high sodium meals. A certain “House” that used to be made of granite gets a lot of its traditional fare from the pre-fab frozen shelves of Costco. Yum.

  11. I just heard about a low sodium mixture of two perfect food: baconnaise. A good seasonal food replacement.

  12. People can be allergic, though it’s typically the iodine they’re allergic to, not the salt itself.

  13. Kay google sea salt allergies – you’d be surprised what you’d read – oh yea i forgot – you don’t need to – sorry . PS your lack of intelligence is showing again

  14. I know nothing of “sea salt” but I’m willing to bet chemically it’s salt… I’ll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.

Can anybody tells what percentage of our bodies are made of water and how the salt in our bodies maintains pressure. If you’re allergic to salt… you’re born dead because you’re made of the shit.

hog, thanks for looking up the spelling on “intelligence”.. goes to your “credibility”

  15. Why does it seem like so many of the whiners that are suddenly “allergic” to salt (you are not) are the ones who like to squeal that they are allergic to tabacco smoke (you’re not)?

You just don’t like it, you are not allergic.

And although YOU may find it too salty, others will not…it’s a mostly matter of taste (and fussiness).

Make your own lunch maybe…? eat bananas…

  16. “oh.. and NOBODY’s “allergic” to salt… they’d have an autoimmune problem, not an allergy.”
Oh look i opened my mouth again with no knowlege!!! Is it a shock to all your bitchers? NO I thought not. Again as usual – that crack pipe got in face again . Opppppsssss I wonder who posted that ? As i make myself look stupid and childish – I let KAY take it away herself and speak with brain disengaged . I LOVE YOU KAY – your as stupid as me !!!! PS stop coming over to my house and smoking my crack – get your own.

  17. Fuck you and your crack. I HATE crackheads. They’re the scourge of the earth and all of them fucking thieves.

Listen, brainiac, your body is composed mostly of water. The pressure of that water is kept in check by what? Sodium, you freak! If you were “allergic” to salt you’d be allergic to your own tears, blood, etc., hence “autoimmune”

Now who’s smoking crack? NOT ME.

  18. Kay, just an FYI: Sodium and salt are two different things.

NaCL – what we know as salt
    Na – Sodium

That being said, I have no idea whether people are allergic to salt or not, but there are some weird-ass allergies out there.

  19. martym…until you’ve had milk chocolate covered bacon, you haven’t tasted the gate posts of Nirvana ~;)

  20. little baby jesus says: though shall not partake in the smoking of crack on this holiest of days you fuck’n heathens

  21. Again, millions of people are able to manage their drug use. If you really study the “problem”, 90% of it is the direct, or indirect result of “prohibition”.

No-where near as many people would “steal” to buy drugs if they were legal and affordable…

    😉
