Does anyone else not enjoy the Christmas season? I feel as if I have to put on a fake-smile all too often during this time of the year. I am just reminded that I do not have a family, nor a successful relationship. Perhaps watching some dvds and blocking out the world will be the way to go?

You could always go to the mall…
Sure it seems like a bad idea to be around all the holiday shoppers; but if anyone hates the holidays more than you it’s retail workers 😀
Watching DVDs sounds like a good idea. If you really want to block out the world, may I suggest the holiday classic “Miracle on 69th Street”?
I’m really sorry that you hate Christmas. It’s a hard time of year to be alone. I’ve tried to lower my expectations, and just enjoy the little things, because sometimes the best way to get through things is to look at them from a different angle. You have your health, and a roof over your head, and food on your table I’m assuming….so go out and rent Elf, Eight Crazy nights, Love Actually, & Scrooge… And if all else fails let me know…you can come for Christmas with me and my dysfunctional family will make you appreciate being alone.
Miracle on 69th st???
Jesus is the reason for the season as they say, an aspect easily forgotten with all the stores in full profit-seeking mode! From the advertising to the Christmas music and everything in between the crass commercialism obliterates the real reason Christmas is celebrated.
I have a feeling the “HOLIDAY HATER!” tag is going to get a lot of use over the next few weeks.
Would you prefer “How the grinch stole my virginity”? real chick?
Well that depends NM…how many stars do you give it? And is more enjoyable to watch alone or with a partner?
These movies don’t get “stars” per se RC. It’s more like a “thumbs-up”, but not a thumb… 😉
Always more enjoyable with a partner.
Or multiple partners if you’re watching “All I Want for Christmas Is a Gang-Bang”
And to think I thought it was “inches”. LOL.
I always plan to have a few ‘strays’ at the dinner table for Christmas. You let virtually anyone know that you will be alone for Christmas (not an unusual occurrence in Halifax, as it is the ‘hub’ of the Maritimes), and before you know it, you will become a temporary member of someone’s family (dysfunctional families provide the best stories to tell later = ).
Or, you will find a group of single people who pool their resources together to create their own kind of Christmas. You only have to be alone if that’s the way you prefer it.
yup alone ..sucks…but better than faking it..
yeah christmas can suck al right,i used to just hide out for a few days at the camp,by myself.when my kids were growing up,it was a lot different, used to enjoy it all,but lately, holy shit.get it over with as quick as possible, and thank fuck,it’s only once a year.as to the miracle on 69th. st.,hope it is good, must find it and get someone to help me watch it,female of course, guys.
One nice thing about the arrival of Christmas (solstice): the days will start getting longer again.
Suck it up and get some anti-depressants. Invite people over for a dinner, help out at a shelter or hope cottage. It is what you make it. You don’t have to be alone unless you choose to be
if you don’t go to church year round, but celebrate christmas your just showing people how selfish and greedy you are…only in it for the gifts. not the birth of the sun. if it was about family you’d celebrate this holiday weekly…or do you? we need to remove gifts from x-mas, and just be this nice year round and burn the church. X-mas isn’t an excuse to be an over-consumer even though we use it as one.
You you you, OP… because it has to be all about you, and feeling sorry for yourself. No wonder you’re alone… such a fucking self pitying downer.
