I know, they’ve sped up the game so much though that some of these really serious injuries are becoming more and more regular. Don’t get me wrong, I like it the way it is too, but when you have people like Sid ( & hearts ) out with concussions, it’s bad for the fat cat’s pocket book. So they do have to take a step back and figure out what to do about it.
Is it equipment? Is it keeping people out of the corners?
I don’t think it should be criminal investigations and all that crap either. But they do need to somehow get rid of those headshots. It’s a learning thing – kids are being inundated with the mantra “STOP” before you hit the head now, so it’ll work itself out with the new crop of players coming up.

Hockey needs to evolve like everything needs to evolve.
No one likes womens hockey, and they don’t have to change the NHL to reflect that. But things must change. People are becoming permanently hurt.

I don’t like UFC because it can be as worked as wrestling and as boring as fuck, take down hold on floor till pass out majority of the time. Anyway.. I like womens hockey i just wish it was more competitive i get sick of watching canada win every year.
Iginla is my favourite too, concussions are a serious thing. I’m done.
I enjoy the UFC and MMA in general. As much as I love to see a good slugfest, I much prefer a slick submission instead of seeing someone have their head beat in after going unconscious.
Iginla is the bf’s fav. I sure hope Calgary makes the payoffs or I’ll be dealing with a grouchy hockey fan.

It’s true – but they move up the ladder… then drop back down to 8th place. And they have fewer games left than the others in their conference. I’m kind of on pins and needles to see if they make it. Ha ha. I wish they were in a closer time zone, I’m tired of late night hockey :D. (I’m a closet leafs fan – but I haven’t held hope for them for years).
True, i’m sick of watching the sens this year. Hockeys growing in europe, i never knew anything about it till i came over to here now i have friends in the UK who are Rangers fans, Penguin fans and Flame Fans.

Crosby is not hype. Neither is Ovie though. Both are amazing players but I think Crosby is more rounded and technical.

crosby is being used as a pawn by lemieux to try and strong arm NHL into doing what he wants. Ive had sport related concussions and one accident when i went out the back of a pickup flatbed. concussions arent life enders, and certainly not career enders if they are properly recovered from. what the penguins have done, and are doing, especially as one of the most penalized teams in the nhl(and most suspensions this year) is a horrible travesty. and has suckered every media outlet out there into the shit storm.
The issue is that many of these concussions are caused by cheap shots. Legit hits are Darwin at work; cheap shot artists like the ass that hit Crosby are wrong and they should sit the same time it takes their victim to recover. The guys doing the cheap shots are the pussies and deserve to get their head taken off. Can’t hit him when he undresses you with stick handling or bowls right over you with the puck? So you hit him when he isn’t looking- wow, real tough guy…
Crosby isn’t well enough to play after 2 months, so how is he a pawn? If I was Lemieux, I’d be savage as well.

I think ppls who watch hockey for the fights are missing the point. I’m not against violence by any means. I just dont find two grown millionaires who are living their dream and really don’t have much to be mad about fighting on skates with a bunch of protective gear on entertaining. Go watch a real fight. I honestly don’t think these guys could beat even a half decent fight/martial artist in a real fight.
