I am getting really pissed off at all the hockey players, well wanna-bes mostly, who dominate every smooth patch of ice on our lovely frozen lakes. I can’t skate for fear of getting body-checked by some boob with a hockey stick who can’t see where he is going. Or some guy by himself who wants to show off his stick-handling prowess. Where are parents with little kids supposed to enjoy themselves. Go home, all of you, it’s my lake too!

Holy fuck – is this lake the size of an amoeba’s dick or what?
first come first serve, clean your own spot if you’re so worried about it.
share.
Um, learn to share?
P.S. any hockey player who chooses to leave the lake can come and play with me.
“Living In Halifax”…..I hope you play hockey shirtless. 🙂 Nice pic.
It’s just as much their lake as it is yours. Having small kids doesn’t give you more claim to the ice.
Isn’t that what we have on the back of our $5 bill….People sharing the lake with smiles on there faces.
“We lived in three places – the school, the church and the skating rink – but our real life was on the skating rink.”
Learn to share
you sound like one of those hyper scaredy cat woman that thinks boisterous play equals death and destruction for the childrens; and you wonder why they grow up all fucked up get a grip
I think the point they’re trying to make is that the “wannabe’s” AREN’T sharing…
or at least they are afraid they won’t share if this defenseless person actually ovaries up and laces the skates.
I don’t think stick-handling boobs (interesting visual) are going to check or slash a child skating on a lake.
Give er… kids getting hurt is part of growing up anyways.
thanks sebastian_. But, that was Ryan Reynolds…hehe.
carry a very “sharp” edged stick yourself then.
I’d like to see the size of this lake or the tens of thousands of wannabes covering every square inch of it.
There is a lake across from my building that is HUGE. I’ve been over there numerous times with friends to play hockey, or to enjoy a good natured skate. And on all the ponds I’ve frequented, not once have I seen people playing hockey be jerks about it, checking people who were not playing. In fact, I’ve seen very little physical contact. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, but its less likely than you’re making it out to be.
There is more than enough room for everybody and their dog to whatever they damn well please. Clear your own patch of ice, and shut up. Everyone else has as much of a right to be there are you do.
grow up, knock it off, get over yourself!! you dont own the lake, you dont own the ice.
deal with it.
I know a girl that’s so ‘green’ she’d scissor mother nature to own that lake and the ice…
Wow… the things people will complain about.
We’re lucky to have hundreds of lakes in the Halifax area. Surely none of us should be complaining about crowding? There’s always one you can walk to in the woods and see no one. Or, you can share a lake in a popular neighbourhood with – gasp – 6 other people on a sunny warmish day in January. (Not another major city in Canada can boast of having such good outdoor skating. Our only issue is that it’s often not cold enough to freeze the ice properly.)
I think the OP should visit another Canadian city and see what it’s like to be cooped up indoors on a rink with 400 other people all skating the same direction, until they tell everyone to turn 180.
I love Halifax.
And when the lakes are frozen, there’s no better skating in the world. Anyone ever skated Long Lake (the one ~near the rotary, as opposed to the 700 other Long Lakes in the province)? Nothing like it… all the little islands, bays, and no hockey players checkign anyone.
What you doing skating where we play hockey anyways ? Its everyones lake – and most the time it’s us pond hockey players that shovel out a nice square to play on .
Yea everyone go home “it’s my lake too?” . Gives you the right to all of it but noone else eh ? Must be one of them well to do’s who’s shit don’t stink .
As if someones going to bodycheck a person skating by . Get real !! Where you skating – the fuckin hood lake ?
You can’t, like, own a lake, man! It’s one of God’s creations and is here for everyone to share – like the wealth, man. *exhales a big cloud of smoke*
There are approximately 190 lakes in the HRM. Take the hockey stick out of your overtight sphincter, realize you do not own a lake, and clear your own patch of ice, or I don’t know, ask these people to be more careful instead of this passive aggressive shit, or go to the other 189 fucking lakes.
you suck barbarita
yea and besides when i was a girl your age we couldn’t afford umm fancy frozen water so we would flail around on broken glass and motor oil and dammit it was good enough for us:)
One of those kids is probably Sid in the making…asshole.
The only real ice i like goes in the glass with my rum
Maybe you’re overreacting just a bit Barbarita? Seriously, do you think the guys playing hockey are such disrespectful dicks that they would check you or your small children? Lakes are for everyone to share, you can get your kiddie skate on and they can pretend they are in the NHL! Set a good example by being more tolerant!
ps. I grew up with a lake in my backyard, it was the best! Everyone looked out for each other and if a game was short a person anyone with a stick could jump in, even a girl like me!
Nothing like pond hockey !!! No fees , no booking ice time , no nothing !!! Oh wait – just one fancy well to do sphincter thats balling it’s her lake . I have never in my decades of playing pond hockey EVER seen or think of checking someone not playing or taking slap shots at little kids . Half the time we stop playing abit so others can pass on through , especially when they have little ones . It just courtesy .
Chances are pretty good that those boobs with hockey sticks are the ones that cleared the ice to make a suitable surface to skate on. If you’re so worried about you or your children being jostled while skating, just go to a family skate at your local rink, these are supervised and less boisterous. Information about the cost/times/locations of these skates can be found here http://www.halifax.ca/rec/publicskates.htm…
Your right there Jai !!! We ARE the ones that likely cleared that area to play on . I can’t believe the OP is such a fuckin Snob shit eater
And with her young ones in tow . What is she teaching them ? How to be an pompous asshole ? That sports and hockey in general is not good for you !! That all pond hockey players are assholes?
Awesome !! A few years from now , we will be chasing her punk ass kids off the streets for vandalizing our properties and braking into our cars !! If not unorganized sports , what will the kids do for fun?
