There’s an I Hate Pierre Maguire Group on F/B and believe me I do…
Go Habs Go
if you are viewing on telly, mute the sound. if watching in person, try ear plugs, works wonders, try it everywhere.
LIFE SUCKS: part of the experience of watching the hockey game is the noise on the ice: the ref calls, the puck drop, sticks slapping, the crowds, the music, the goal horn. Listening to a bunch of gas bags blow verbal farts ruins the experience.
In fact, a few years ago when the announcers went on strike, people actually enjoyed watching the games more because Pierre wasn’t flapping his lips about so-and-so’s hobbies or so-and-so’s 1994 goal; people were not missing announcers at all, which is why they eventually settled their strike, because they saw their jobs weren’t all that necessary to the enjoyment of the game.
I’m with the bitcher.
Has the ex-con player on the SMU team threatened to kill anyone yet?
Its been that way for years now! I came up with a Bob Cole “I think” drinking game. Everytime he says “I think” take a drink! Or “I dont think” or “Maybe” Or “almost” or “I dont know”. Its not a cure but it helps!
Dilligaf: Good idea! Do the same thing with Pierre M’s “MONSTER” and you’d be fucked after the first period.
I heard he got that rink-side position not because it got him closer to the action; it was because the other guys announcing couldn’t take him anymore. He is obviously well-versed in every innocuous fact that ever existed about every player who ever made it past Midget B, but we don’t need hear to hear it every time the play stops! And now these guys are talking longer and longer after play resumes. POST A BLOG YOU BLOWHARD!!
Pierre M looks like a penis with glasses, but I like the way he and Gord Miller call games together. Some of us enjoy hearing about when Pierre first saw Phil Kessel play a game in junior or was at a game where Ron Hextall killed an old grandma with a puck in 1987. If you can’t handle the facts mute the TV. Or go to Moosehead games…. well, OK, that idea is out the window…. ok, just mute the TV. NHL hockey is not just a sport- it is a century-plus long competition full of history and tradition. It’s nice to be reminded of that history when watching a game.
I liked it best in 1919. that’s when it ‘peaked’
1919- you mean the year the Stanley Cup final was suspended due to an influenza epidemic? Unfortunately Canadiens’ defenceman Joe Hall would not agree with you. His bout with the influenza certainly peaked though and it claimed his life.
And now for a face-off in the Habs zone!
yes.. the year there was barely a season and no winner.
that was the best one.
jonno: go leafs go…oh wait too late^^spoilers maybe?
