After an 8 million dollar upgrade from GO-Time to the Departure line system I was excited and had hope this was finally improve transit in Halifax. What a disaster! It’s worse than before! I’m tired of being told the bus is 5 minutes away. Then after 8-10 minutes being advised the next one is in 56 minutes. Defeated I start walking to try and get a different route and 15-20 minutes later down the road the bus goes whizzing by! Its happened on multiple routes, several times. —Hellifax Transit

  1. Seems like the old adage of “everything old is new again” is at work once again. Happens a lot with the local transit folks. How many years, in fact decades, has this Go Time / Departures Line aspect been dangled at us? Only to often become next to useless almost as soon as any ‘upgrade’ is allegedly implemented. Then again the transit system is also now only named after one of the component communities of several that make up HRM, and they can not even spell that name with regular Latin style letters. Bold not really, more like tired.

  2. was happening way before that changeover. The 68 route is notorious for that, long before the change. I stood waiting for a bus for just over 2 hours without seeing the 68 in either direction of traffic. I finally called because it started raining and they said “oh one of the busses is broken down and they haven’t been able to catch up” next thing you know, 3 roll by jam packed with people that got on at the bridge terminal. the 4th bus shows up and can only let 3 people on….Halifax transit(I feel bad for the drivers who have to put up with it all) is the worst public transit ive ever encountered. Thats counting US, Canada and many countries in Europe(London transit is amazing as is Germany and france!!)
