Your recent parking ticket story missed the mark. There were references to many statements about lack of complaints or no increase in number of complaints, but it appeared to be all anecdotal. That said, I know I have personally complained multiple times to the Mayor’s office, and it takes a lot to get me to complain so I’m sure there are many others. The actual number of increased tickets is staggering. That’s nearly an additional 70 tickets per business day, likely all in a very small area. That can’t be good for the city in the long run. I live in Northwood, and every day I see them waiting by the 15-minute parking sign to ticket seniors. It’s shameful. A short term cash grab, but additional trouble to creating a vibrant downtown. I wonder if this company is issuing more and more tickets to offset their low bid. —Willy

Nothing to see here. Useless bitch unless there’s a rash of tickets being given out illegally.
There should be more tickets given out by the “anecdotal” evidence I see on a daily basis. This might force fewer people to drive which can only be a GOOD thing for this world. Let the down voting begin 🙂
I drive a bike.
So, because you’re a senior, you don’t have to follow the law.
Gotcha.
Here’s a thought: don’t do stuff that would put you in a position to LEGALLY get a fine and you won’t get a fine. Take a little personal responsibility.
thats the pollytrickions for you, shaking down seniors when we could be spending our pension money at the casino. oh well, thats life in hellifax.
So I guess it is fair to claim that the ticketing company gets a ‘cut’ of the ticket revenue. I find this claim problematic, please back it up with actual evidence. You have one week.
I haven’t got a parking ticket in at least10 years. Don’t see how you can get a parking ticket if you aren’t parked illegally so, I don’t see a problem.
This Bitch is as ‘factual’ as the Coast article it is referencing. Noam Chomsky would love you guys, self-referencing media is my fave as well.
EXACTLY, SHIT-DOC!
The last time anyone I know of got a parking ticket was a case of parking somewhere that is now a loading zone (out of town, they hadn’t been there in a long time and they neglected to read the signs).
And you know what they did? They paid it and stfu because there were signs posted that they neglected to read. ALL of these places have signs. It’s up to the person parking the car to read them. Ignorance is no defence while breaking the law.
I got a ticket for driving into a wall before. Anyone familiar with Esquimalt, BC?
Nukka — the rock wall outside the Fleet Club by the dockyard gate? Served in Victoria from 1984 to 1989.
^Hahaha, I most certainly would have been fucked had that been the spot.
Bottom of Fraser St, going into Saxe Point.
Where you driving a motorcycle at the time Nukka?
^Not a chance.

this seems simple. If it is 15 minute parking don’t park over 15 minutes?
That’s what happens when the work is contracted out to the lowest bidder. You are at the mercy of their work ethic. Take for instance the contracting out of plowing the streets in the winter. Snow banks still covering 3 to 4 feet of street after the plow has passed. Narrow ass streets get quite narrower in the winter. Long live spring and summer.
Yours truly.
Sounds like their ‘work ethic’ is just fucking fine. Almost too fucking fine for people to the point that they make a news story about how well these people are doing their fucking jobs. Still waiting to hear what the ‘cut’ is, their proposal/contract must be public information by now, right? Maybe the author of the article can ask Tim how to track down shit like that before going to press.
