Hey…I’m having a really hard time fiding an internet service provider that’s high speed but isn’t one of the “big boys”. Just moved here from Ontario and there I used a great “little” company that offered high speed for $30 with a 200gb up/download limit.
Is there something similar around here?

  1. Sorry dude, nothing like that here. You’re lucky to get the advertised bandwidth half the time. Suck it up junior.

  2. Welcome to the land of two shit companies with a monopoly, admitted throttling, crappy customer service, etc. I hate them both. There is no “lesser of two evils” here. We’re actually looking into offshore hosting and a proxy server because of these issues. We’re already paying a premium for a service level we do not receive, so I’m not too thrilled about adding additional expense, but it is the only way to have unfettered access.

  3. Yup, lots of free internet here…it’s called “leaching.” Too many people here don’t know how to secure their networks. Their mistake, your gain. I do it.

  4. People *are* getting smarter on that, Andy. It was easy to leech a few years back, but in my building, for instance, there are no unsecured networks. I SORT OF can get a connection to Future Inn’s internet, but that’s only if my macbook is pointing a certain way and the connection usually drops within seconds.

Internet is actually pretty decent in NS — other places in the country have SHITTY SHITTY ISPs. Friend of mine works in IT and has told me he much preferred his internet access in NS as opposed to his current access in BC.
