Two of the top reasons why this city sucks: shi$%y transportation (IS ANYONE IN GOVERNMENT LISTENING?!) and the food. How many restaurants try and create the ambience and attitude (and prices) of NYC, but just suck?! Hey, north end neighbourhood resto, we don’t want to hear what the chef recommends or discourages. Please go to cooking school! The food is NOT good! —Fed up with Hellifax

I can always find a lovely restaurant to suit my mood here. Not as many options as my other favourite cities in the world like Paris or Barcelona – but it’s reasonable. And way more options that the small town and neighbouring city I grew up in. You must be looking in the wrong place.
*Pk style shrug*.
yea yea yea *rolls eyes*. normally i’d be the first one to say negative crap about halifax, but when someone else talks bad about it, i can’t help but defend this pathetic town, city, whatever you wanna call it.
and the feeling is mutual OP, so bugger off!
Try finding real sushi in this city….it doesn’t exist. It’s all been westernized.
This city has a ton of excellent local restaurants, better than most cities of similar size. There are only a handful of “expensive” resto’s in this city as well, most are very reasonable. I do agree with the transportation comments though.
my only beef with the transport is that it hasn’t gone GPS yet…
why announce that you’re bringing it in and then spend the next fucking YEARS trying to implement something that already has been elsewhere.
GIMME ACCURATE GOD DAMN TIMES.
the restaurants aren’t that bad… though I tend to like to cook instead….
Go to NYC and get your goddamn pizza then, goddamnit!
are you kidding me? I love halifax food, just ask the locals what their favourites is and get around the city, i’ve lost count of the amazing cuisine i’ve had the pleasure to consume.
Jims on bedford highway is my favourite.
There was an article in the Globe on Saturday about cities around the world and their rankings in 4 categories. Halifax managed a D in transportation/public transit and we were ranked 23rd. Our commute was about 65 minutes and our economy also rated as a D.
Yes, but you can enjoy, Chinese, japanese, Thai, Korean, German, Carribean, French, Mexican, Italian, Indian food etc, etc, etc. We do have a large assortment of fare here. And just try to get a donair in NYC or Paris. LOL.
well now, where to begin? oh yeah, get bent douchebag. take your fake bullshit ideals with you, this is halisux, not hellifax.
..i miss cheap fresh haddock big time…
There are some fantastic restaurants here – especially in the North End and neighbouring areas. Just around the corner from me is the Brooklyn Warehouse which is fantastic.
Seriously? The restaurants here are AWFUL! Haligonians just don’t realize they are paying way too much for everything, including restaurant food. And it’s practically impossible to find anything healthy! Ever heard of a salad bar?
I really hope that your idea of a salad bar is different than mine.
