I would really like to know who the fuck is responsible for the impossible costs of heating one’s abode with oil. I am having $100 fucking dollars a week hijacked from me and that’s cranking the goddamn heat up to a balmy 68 degrees. I will be paying off this year’s supply for the next two years. OIL IS A NECESSITY OF LIFE, YOU GOVERNMENT TWATS! Fuel should not be fucking taxed nor should people be chosing between food and heat. This is fucking ridiculous, people – it’s time for the torches and the pitchforks and you can be sure I’ll be right in the front row.

I’m just waiting for the dumbfucks to come on here thinking you’re talking in terms of 68 centigrade.
In case you haven’t noticed, the provincial govt does not tax heating oil.And I’m sure you’ve taken advantage of their incentive programs to insulate and draft-stop the house you’re in, right?Seems to me your wrath needs to be directed at whoever owns your residence and the oil barons.
Very few landlords bother with that rebate shit. They just up the rent. I’ve lived in places where my heat was as much as my rent because of poor insulation, etc. It’s not fair, for sure, but that’s the way it is. Suck it up, Ellbee, or move.
Oil is a commodity. It’s traded on the open market. Govs cannot set or regulate what the price of a freely traded commodity without a huge hassle from the large oil companies. The price of oil itself is determined by various factors such as supply & demand, or people trying their luck on shorts/longs.With a higher price of oil, that means more profit for govs in terms of gasoline taxes. Do you think they would want to cut down on their profits at the pumps??? The higher the price of crude oil, the more record budget surplus that is recorded. Good luck trying to convince the Federal Gov to regulate the price of crude oil in Canada. What’s wrong with a household temp of 20 degrees? I don’t think there’s ever been a documented case of someone dying from hypothermia being in a 20 degree environment. There’s a really really cheap and simple solution to your problem. It’s called bundling up. Put on a sweater or sweatshirt. Put on some socks. Problem solved.
Window wrap. Although it’s made from petroleum too. OH NOES!! Carnate, what’s wrong with those dumbfucks who are using the metric system? It’s way easier to figure out than that antiquated bullshit that the English handed down to us.
This may be a bit off topic, but please tell me one advantage that the Imperial system has over the Metric system. While you’re at it, is it the American or British Imperial system you are referring to?Let’s see, how long would it take you to figure out how many cans of paint to buy if you’re painting a room that is say 16’8″ by 12’9″? How many square feet is that??? Let’s see, if I have a 3.5m by 4.6m room, I have ~16 sq m of paint that I need. So I need to calculate how many metres there are in 20 km. Since there are 1000m in 1 km, that would work to be 20,000m. How many feet are there in say 20 miles? Give me one advantage that the Imperial system has and I’ll consider it useful. Btw, why do they keep quoting fuel consumption in miles/gallon? We travel in km and we buy our fuel by the litre. Your odometer records kms travelled, not miles. Do people use their brains before they go quoting these numbers??
you lucky sod…I once owned a flat (a large one mind) in HRM and unfortunately it had electric heat. after all possible insulating, caulking and whatever those energy techs do, my heating bill over the winter settled at a nice 1000-1100 a month. yup..per month.i should have invested in NS Power, at least I would have recouped a few nickels. It’s only money and you have a choice. crank it up, you cannot live at 68 degrees, I tried.
