There are a lot of stupid people out there…
I can’t stand it when people use someone’s death to get attention on none other than FACEBOOK. Yes you knew this person and it’s friggin’ shitty they died but do we really need an hourly play by play of how ‘depressed’ you are? You barely even talked about this person until they died. I can see maybe one status update at the initial shock/loss but there’s no need to continue to ask for people’s sympathy and cheesy condolences. People who are legitimately depressed do not blast it everywhere. It’s a very personal thing and fakers make people who actually have this illness look crazy/bad. And what’s with directing comments to the dead person, not even in a memorial group but on your own Facebook wall? They’re not going to see it! A lot of people aren’t going to see it, like you know, their family. I can somewhat understand posting things in a memorial page as it can help you or let the family know you’re thinking of them or whatever, but seriously, not your own wall FFS.
Then there’s those people who support people who are in jail or are under investigation… “Keep ya head up” is a common phrase. How about “you broke the law and now you’re paying for it”?
I’m sick and tired of seeing “FREE [insert name here]” when they did in fact break the law and are serving time for what they’ve done. Anyone under 20 read/watch the news anymore? People you least expect can be accused of the worst crimes imaginable, with a lot of evidence and people will still say “FREE JOHN SMITH!” Why on earth would anyone, just because they’re your friend, get taken out of jail with no questions asked? Even if the person did do the crime, their friends still Facebook their hardest to try and get them out of jail. That’s not the way the world works.
I hope I don’t come off as being heartless or whatever, as I am far from it. I bawl my eyes out all the time over people dying, when I didn’t even know them. Just the thought of people losing someone they loved and feeling so helpless just gets to me and anything to do with animal abuse, I’m crying for hours. I just can’t stand people who use such things to get attention. Go and ask for the comfort of your friends and family IN REAL LIFE. If they’re your real good friends, they’ll come. Don’t ask for sympathy from your 1000+ Facebook friends who aren’t actually your friends.
Thanks.—MissIHateFakePeople

Get used to it most of the younger people today couldn’t have an oral conversation. Fuck most of them don’t know how to get off their crackberries. Yeah I have a cell and gues what I use it as? Yep a telephone only. Want to fuck ’em all up? Just take their gadgets from them. They’ll go through a worse withdrawal than any drug addict or alcoholic.
Facebook attention whores are the worst!
Sorry OB, I couldn’t read the whole bitch, being so lame and all. If you hate fb so much dump it and pick up a book, ever hear of those, Ivan has lots.
We old geezers don’t have that kind of horseshit on our FB pages – just pix of our Hub-Units sporting banana hammocks and tips on treating arthritic armpits.
I can like oral… oh wait… converstions… right Bro.
Uh, ya, there’s currently one circulating on my FB about a missing girl. Very sad – and I wonder if FB is the way to “solve the case” though. Or just creating hysteria.
See this doesn’t bother me, because I spend about a minute (sometimes less) total on facebook everyday. I don’t use that time to read up on other people, because I just don’t care.
I use that time to check for messages from friends because none of them actually use email or phones anymore.
Your life will improve if you minimize facebook usage. If you spend your time online, spend it learning things or doing things that are fun instead of reading other people’s stupid thoughts and updates that have no relevance to you life. I swear to god, facebook creeping kills brain cells and ebbs away at your faith in humanity.
I won’t comment on FB because although I know plenty of people who use it, my SO included, I have never been interested enough in it to even investigate. I keep on getting FB invites by email from existing friends and just turn ’em down.
The phenomenon you discuss predates not just FB but the entire Web…in other words, it’s more than 20 or so years old. It’s just that now it’s technologically more possible to be pervasively superficial. But back in the day – before the Internet, before cellphones – people absolutely managed to centre a tragic (or joyous or controversial) event on themselves…just as well as people do it now. It’s just that now it’s more in your Face – pardon the pun. 🙂
People have always done this. Someone dies, and out pop the stories of how you’re devastated by the passing of that younger brother of your girlfriend’s BFF. Who, incidentally, you only met in passing for about 2 minutes several years before. Or a young man or woman dies of a drug overdose – which they seem to do a lot up in the Valley – and a thousand people come out of the woodwork to say what a wonderful young, promising person was laid to rest…ignoring the fact that prior they mostly all thought (and opined) that that person was an obnoxious crackhead loser.
The jail bit is particularly amusing. Some junior thug goes to jail and before you know it 500 people seem to have been in, or associated with, his posse. You know a value system is twisted when some young person is proud of the fact that once upon a time they were at a party with the oft-shot, oft-locked up professional mediocre lightweight criminal Jimmy Melvin Jr. And what does “keep ya head up” mean? Be happy that the worst that can happen is 5 years in Renous?
Do they have Facebook in Heaven? Unlikely….so stop leaving messages for dead people on their Facebook page.
I find it interesting that this bitch got posted around the same time I found out that my grandmother died.
sorry to hear that brendon♡xox
Thanks, pg. Her funeral’s tomorrow so I’m making a whirlwind trip down the valley tonight and coming back tomorrow night.
Aw, I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother 🙁 My favorite grandmother died when I was 4 and 24 years later I still miss her like crazy (the whole family does).
it’s called Havenbook… and everyone you know automatically ‘like’s everything you post.

Might not have to put up with it much longer….
Hey like it says in Shawshank:
Andy Dufresne: What about you? What are you in here for?
Red: Murder, same as you.
Andy Dufresne: Innocent?
Red: [shakes his head] Only guilty man in Shawshank
I agree with the OP – get a fucking life you weeping, spineless little fuckers.
