Why must you always be broken when I get you home? I love your crunchy taste but may have to switch to soft shells if you don’t fuck off and stop being broken all the time.

  1. mmmmmmmm,
    taco flavoured kisses…

I know what you mean though… I was inhaling one last week and this shard of shell cut the whole way down my throat….
I do love the hardshell though so I forgave it.

  2. Maybe if you didn’t put them at the bottom of your grocery bag they’d stand a chance. I hate hard shells anyway. It is impossible to take a first bite and not have them crumble all over the place and have half your taco shit all over the plate. I LIKE THEM SOFT!!!

  3. I’m with 1fallingangels1 on this one. Nothing beats homemade from one who makes their own pita, tortillas, tacos, roti, pizza dough, flatbreads and loaves. The aroma alone is worth it! Mmmmmmmmmmmmm…

  4. EEEEEEWWWWW…. Ben Affleck spooge! Sorry, just had to add that little bit to zZz’s post.

Tacos are great. I make Taco salad out of the broken ones, just take the filling and toss it up with said broken tacos. Throw some sour cream and salsa in there, and bam. Usage.

  5. yeah, taco salad’s the shit!

and jonno, it’s all about the precise grip strength along with the perfect bite velocity to get a hard shell taco to stay together. I’ve got the technique down but I’ve been training since I was 6. practice practice practice

  6. Agreed Dr. Fever…. Taco salad is pretty friggin delicious. Used to make that out of the leftover and the hard shells my ex used to buy…… I would even throw in lettuce and make it a real salad!

My mom used to make taco soup as well when I was a kid…. something else you should try. It’s got a tomato soup base, but all the other things you’d normally find in tacos. Throw in the broken up shells as the end so they are semi-crunchy….. mmmmm

  7. I’ve given up on hard shells. Now, can anyone tell me the difference between a soft shelled taco, a fajita, and a burrito? Because I can get chicken tacos, beef burritos, and veggie fajitas, so seriously, I don’t get it.

  8. Hard taco’s mmmmmmm just don’t bother polluting them with fuckin’ veggies !
Load them with meat, cheeses extra hot sauce & sour cream. Leave the veggies for the cows.
Oh yeah, don’t forget to make sure you’ve got cold beers.
The only way it could get any better is a tray of chicken wings to nibble on as appetizers ~:)

  9. OP: It’s all about taco grandes. You fold a soft shell taco covered in refried beans around the hard shell taco. Mmmmm….

jonno: my mom used to make the same sort of thing, except it was pizza soup instead. Tomato based with all the pizza toppings in it, then garnished with mozza at the end. It’s best when served in a bread bowl. Mmmm…

God damn it! This thread has made me hungry!

  10. I agree, PAS. Most of the time, when I make Fajitas they’re not really folded over like a real one, so they’re just chicken tacos, with peppers.

I’m sure there’s a Mexican food snob out there that can correct us. As if Mexican food can be snobby.

  11. dude, the only way I would do that is if I knew I had a game of battleshits coming up and wanted a sure-fire way to win.

the pizza soup sounds fuckin good though… never thought of the bread bowl…

  12. Never Wrong…I have never had that !
Even though the refried beans are a veggie, that still sounds pretty good.
And you could use even more taco meat, instead of beans ~:)

  13. If you mix the taco meat in with the beans you get the best of both worlds, and it will stick properly!

I’m totally making tacos for supper.

  14. the soft ones are much better but i am making bread and soup…maybe on the morrow

is it just me or is this a lame bitch and we just don’t care that much…

oh and yorkke, the bear just said without trolls we wouldn’t need bridges

  15. Never Wrong…. are you my brother? My Mom made pizza soup too! How I miss my mom’s cooking. Guess it’s off to Sobey’s for some soup ingredients for me after work..LOL

  16. paingirl…. this started off as a lame bitch, but has conceived countless supper ideas in my head for the rest of the winter…. mmmm, i do love soup.

btw… what kind of bread and soup are you making? I am ALL about the bread and soup…..

  17. paingirl- do you make french onion soup??? if so, we have a date at your place… just let me know when and where….

  18. heheheh,

Personally I enjoy summer squash soup with a hint of maple syrup..yum

Another favorite would have to be cream of broccoli, I OD the soup on cheese when I make it, it’s fantastic.

  19. i am making focaccia bread and minestrone, i can make french onion but me ma’s is better… always use gruyere cheese

  20. LOl at Matthew Luthor, never thought of that.

Broken tacos are easy to use for other stuff like salads and even just for dipping. If you pulverize them, you can use them for a crusty topping. It’s all good stuff.

  21. maybe if you weren’t such a reckless shitty driver or even walker, they might arrive in one piece.i never ever had any problem getting any taxco from there to here in one piece.

  22. I think I need to come to all of your places and sample your soup. Only then will I be able to declare the LTWWB sauciere supreme…… paingirl, I’ll start at your place with your minestrone. Warn your ma that I’ll be dropping by there afterward. Angel… as disappointed as I am with your choice of veggies, I’ll sample them nonetheless as I have been surprised by various cuisines in the past. And the peanut sweet potato…. I am intrigued!

  23. Dude, I can assure you that you wouldn’t be disappointed.

Unless of course you don’t like broccoli or squash, in which case you are exempted.

  24. hah, LTWWB potluck, that would be awesome. We could eat soup and sit around bitching at each other.

    😛

  25. angel…. i think we would actually need to invite a couple of real dumbasses to the potluck so they could bitch about stupid shit. Then WE would jump all over what they said and rip them a new one (verbally) so to speak.

I am not particularly fond of broccoli or squash, but would give you the benefit of the doubt. Especially if you’re dumping cheese into the soup. Mmmm…… cheese.

  26. So kay’s invited then?

    Just kidding..kinda…

well, there is no cheese in the squash soup…but trust me man, you would have to like cheese to like the broccoli one.

Dam, I really want some now, I’m thinking I’m going to have to make some sometime the week now.

  27. Nice !!! Thanks bitchers !!! You all made me hungry now !!! Nothing like a potluck with a bunch of good cooks bringing goodies !!!

  28. its french onion thanks to you fuckers the boy saw the post and now i gots to bubble some up…soup is a very fulfilling concoction to make

  29. haha…. touché angel! In that case I guess we`ll have to make weed hog some Cap`n Crunch and ice cream cone soup.

  30. alright…. I guess I will bring something to the table as well….. Anyone fond of a nice, thick, hearty seafood chowder? You`ll never taste any other as good :-O

  31. I lovvvvvvvve baked maple butternut squash, especially the carmelized bits. I’m gonna do it as soup next time, 1fallingangels1, that sounds fab!

  32. This post is making me hungry. All soups, hearty breads and CHEESE PLEASE are good. I’m intrigued by the peanut sweet potato soup. Care to share the recipe? or tell us whats in it. I really want to make it.

    🙂

  33. the chick pea rocks my world in any form…the boy will only eat them if its in hummus form. a good scotch broth is tough to find, my favourite soup would be leek and taters

  34. mmm captain crunch and ice cream soup, now that sounds sweetly delicious. And hot and sour soup, that’s one of my faves.

Oceanlady, I hear yeah. I definitely need to make some and soon.

    Dammit I want soup.

Speaking of scotch broth, nothing is better for a cold then some good o’l Jack Daniel soup, that’s definitely my newf side coming out though:)

  35. now that appeals to me…croutons soaked in booze with cheese on top…but seriously barley grows like a bitch along with lentils (not a big fan) i enjoy the split pea it just kinda finally lets go

  36. More: Or you can take the soft shell, cover it in cheese (and I do mean COVER) and then pop it in the oven for a minute to make the cheese all gooey melty, then wrap that around the hard shell. Also, refried beans have a really high fat and protein content, so they’re like the black sheep of the veggie world. If you like hot sauce (I’m a fanatic for hot food myself) you should check out http://www.frommildtowild.com/ He has his shop down in Cornwallis (the old CFB) and will ship to anywhere in NS. He carries a lot of the old stuff that Job House of Peppers used to have.

Jonno: I doubt it. I have no brothers, only an older sister. Your mom sounds like my mom. Not afraid to try making new and cool foods. My mom also used to make Taco Potatos. They’re like the potatos you get at Wendy’s, except with Taco toppings. You cut the potato so it opens up and lays flat in the bowl, then put on cream cheese, taco meat, cheddar cheese, veggies, salsa, sour cream and hot sauce. Mmmm….
