With the holiday season approaching I am seeing the usual drives for donations. Be it cash, food or household items to donate. We all live in the same country with the same expenses. I work hard for a living like everyone else in the working world. I do not give change to anyone, or smokes even if I have a full pack in view and just lit one. I’m sick and tired of handouts every where I turn. Now with the holiday season here I have to say “no” every where I go. If your monthly handout doesn’t cover your expenses get a job, or change your spending habits. I pay as much in taxes a year as a single mother on the system pulls in on welfare. Now I should give food and money to these poor less fortunate souls because its Christmas. Give me a break. You want to move up in the world, work for it! I grew up on the system and put myself through school. Anyone can do that, I’m not special. What I did see growing up in that situation was empty cupboards and a disconnected phone every couple months. What I didn’t see was these wonderful parents running out of smokes, weed and booze. Seriously people, wake the fuck up. You work for what you have and if you give it away it promotes and encourages more to take on the same “poor me” attitude. Even if you donate to a foodbank your just enabling that cheque casher to spend the only money they have on the very things it is not intended for. There are enablers in the world of addictions that are criminals, and there are enablers in the world of handouts. You’re not helping, you’re encouraging the same lazy self-entitled attitude to the next generation. Really, do the people who donate actually think that they’re helping a family? You’re supporting them and ensuring the next generation picks up the same self-entitled attitude. I don’t give a can, box or penny for these people. The less people on the system and the less people looking for hand outs may lower our taxes. That may be a pipe dream of sorts. Though I do agree with some of what OB said and good on them for getting them selves sorted I will still donate to the food bank, yes some take advantage but there is still some who really need it, going through some hard times, lost of job or getting sick etc, a friend of mine needed that food bank help for a number of months and when they got back to working donated to it themselves almost monthly. They are not all users and bums.

I have been on the ‘system’ my enitire life, I didnt choose to be born with multiple disabilities, nor did i choose to be a rape survivor as well as growing up in a broken home with a mother with disabilities herself, i didnt choose to be born into a society that wont hire multiply disabled people because just maybe we’ll appreciate the job more than an able bodied person & stay at the same job for 30+ years, I have NEVER panhandled in my life, I do use soup kitchens when I need to, I have only used a food bank 5 times in the last 17 years I’ve been on my own, I DID choose to become an advocate for disabled people, I DID choose to volunteer for various organizations for 15 years, before my sight got to a poitn that I cannot do the jobs they need done, I DID choose to be a poll clerk for 3 provincial & 2 Federal elections, also for 5 municipal elections in my home town in ontario, I DID choose to try to get my education, but be turned away because no where is equipped to deal with my disabilities..
I hate being on the system, I really do, but society seems to think that people that are multiply disabled are worthless & a waste of their time, so we are stuck to exist on peanuts..

OP has a point. Too many hands out there and I feel bad when I say no. I donate blood , to food drives and other charities when I can. But I have to draw the line somewhere. It gets too expensive for some people.

There are people out there that abuse the system I’ll give you that. Is it really fair to group all People together. I do give to people all the time I do it for too reasons. One life happens and sometime things get out of control and I’m not talking about drug abuse or bad choices I’m talking about life in general. Job losses, family medical reasons, death, PTSD just to name a few I can go on and on. Everybody has a storie life can be really unfair at time. You don’t know there storie so how can you judge them. I’ll give you an example. True storie husband wife been together for over 20 years both worked all there lives had a little home some saving life was going good until she was diagnose with cancer. They spent every cent they had in finding and getting treatment for her. She could no longer work and he ended up lossing his job due to all the time off he was taken. Spent there whole saving and ended up selling there home. Three years later she died. He was left with nothing. Everything he worked for all his life was gone
He was devastated. He ended up on the streets asking strangers for change. Sometime things happen that are out of our control so instead of judging other always remember everyone has a storie. It could be you one day. Second reasons my mother always said to treat other as you would want to be treated that way you will sleep good that night doing the right thing makes me feel better. I don’t always give money sometime I’ll buy them coffee, food or just give them what I can afford at the time.

The first answer – it will be indicative of the others – is the simply biological. It relates to More’s conception of that useful and necessary service. For More the hooker is not a person. He has dehumanized her to the point that she is little more than a receptacle for his periodic sperm spurts. She has no identity. In effect, she is just a thing there for More’s convenience, nothing more. But is that all there is to it? Does More have no other dimension than his periodic sperm spurts which motivates his actions? I think he does.
More’s fucking hookers is an example of his displaced drive for dominance, a psychological construct with multiple dimensions. The American (although Canadian-born) Harvard psychologist Stephen Pinker (“The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined,” 2011) points to the sexual dominance of powerful males. I agree with you Blue Collared Worker. I work hard and pay my taxes every year and don’t appreicae that some just sit on their buts and use my money to drink or buy drugs. I don’t like the word charity, its for those who really need it- like kids who lost thier parents in a car accident – for that charity I’m there. Well, perhaps not so much his credentials but Nukka’s reference to his “creative writing class” (11/11, 5:22PM) aroused my interest. As you know, I have attempted a little creative writing of my own, particularly in the realm of pornography. As I went along, I developed my own principles of creative pornographic writing which either Nukka or FS might wish to comment on and possibly suggest areas of improvement. Herewith my principles of creative pornographic writing:
1. It is essential to situate the porn in context, whether in the form of a story or situation. For example, when I described Xenophilia’s labia I did so in the context of a snooker match in which she was going commando and, when sprawled out on the table to make her shot, revealed her magnificent labia.
2. The principal character in porn should ideally be unaware of the pornographic quality of the situation. The narrator (me) was interested in the match and not Xeno’s labia, at least not initially. He was interested in the lay of the balls which Xeno expertly pocketed. Her last shot was particularly difficult. Fortunately she has waxed her delightful pubic tuft which would have otherwise obscured the position on the balls for the observer.
3. The story should build to a climax (heh, heh) which required Xeno to spread her shapely legs out for balance, revealing in the process an impish bit of her pink meat which peeped out provocatively from between her magnificent labia. Some of the other spectators who had gathered at my vantage point at the end of the table became visibly aroused – flushed faces, glassy-eyed, and so on – but the narrator thought they were suffering from food poisoning contracted at the cafeteria. He thought he would meet with the cafeteria manager after the match.
4. Finally, Xeno sank the last ball and won the match. The narrator bent over and whispered congratulations in her ear – she was looking away and he did not see her face – and remarked that her labia reminded him of another magnificent pair on a strapping wench doing naked snow angels which he had previously seen. She turned around to face him and, guess what – it was Xenophilia! The narrator exclaimed, “Xeno, you’re the best!”
Writing porn is not as simple as one might think. As you can see, a number of factors are required for it to be successful. On the basis of your creative writing class, would it be possible to comment and perhaps suggest areas of improvement?

To Montrealman, I don’t think I’m in a position to critique your writings. While there may be areas of improvement, I am unfamiliar with written porn. Due to my age, the internet has always been there when the need had arisen. With that said, we havn’t had any workshops, discussions or assignments on that topic. I don’t believe its covered in the curriculum. I do however notice the references to humour in your x-rated tales, this was probably done intentionally for the entertainment value? That I guess would be the only point of improvement in the style of writing you are going for.
