I dunno what’s harder to learn, becoming a doctor or learning to understand the Halifax Transit bus schedule. I feel like a lab experiment test to see how much stress I can handle taking a bus. I feel lIke I’m more squeezed together on packed buses then atoms fused together. Some days I turn into a fossil by the time the bus arrives. Maybe it’s time we bring back horse carriages. I bet they’re more efficient. —Fossilized Bus-user

  1. To be fair, the talking 52 now advises riders to double up on the pyjama pants in inclement weather.
Try finding that level of love in a big city like T.O.

  2. Once you realize that Halifax is a pretend city, you’ll find it easier. Halifax pretends to be a) a city, b) progressive, c) have a council with intelligence… the list goes on.

    That, or move to Tranna…

  4. Kluvius,
I may be among a minority but I miss the amusement that montrealman brought to this group. He could be annoying at times but kept everyone on their toes and took no prisoners.

  5. Why is it that seventy percent of the bitches on here are about public transit? Enough please! We get it.

  6. I hate having to pay car payments, insurance, permits etc…..Especially the gas,my fuck it is a rip off but goddammit! I would never ever again get on one of them Halifax Loser Cruisers if you paid me. I don’t even know how someone could even drive one for a job. The fucking idiots in this city drive me nuts enough. GET A CAR OR A BIKE!
Ditch the peasant wagon for good.

  7. The 52 smells like heinie. Really ripe heinie. I only took it once and have yet to recover from that gaggin’ wagon.

  8. Get a cheap car, educate yourself on vehicles and find a $2500 toyota, It’s really not that hard , ask someone younger and poorer who drives about vehicles, The world of used tires, non dealer mechanics and junkyard parts awaits you, and a toasty warm car on a cold day is worth giving up starbucks and iPhone 7+ for, trust me

  9. Owning a car costs thousands per year for insurance, parking, repairs, gas, etc. – even if you drive an older model. It might be better to put that money into living close enough that you can walk to work – provided you don’t work in a no-man’s land like Burnside.

  10. Yes it does cost money, but its overly dramatized, You don’t have to take your car to a big name garage or dealership to get it fixed, Gas for econoboxes is cheap, I have a small suv and spend an average of $250 a month, no payment (saved up) When I was taking the bus, I spent $80 a month on a bus pass, and maybe $30 on taxis or more depending on the season, $100 of gas gets me 800km a month to drive, and thats in an SUV, not a small car, Parking is included in most rent besides downtown, and lots of people work in business parks where parking is ample. Plus you get the luxuries of owning a car!

  11. @ Negard LeTourlette,

So in Downtown T.O., the transit system consists of mostly underground and indoor heated waiting stations to take the efficient (subway every 3 mins and street car every 5 to 10 mins) transit system. The system is designed to run east/west and north/south. Yes Toronto is a much larger city than Halifax so it may take a bit longer, sometimes 40 or a 45 min subway ride to get to certain places, depending on where you’re going and coming from. Some of the routes have their own dedicated lanes.
Halifax has buses that run on an ok schedule (every half hour) for the most part, but sometimes they just don’t show up (from experience). Add some bad drivers to that. and that we only have one service that runs every 10 to 15 mins, which is route 1. Only one!!!

Yet somehow you feel that Halifax transit is better, more efficient, and gives more love than TO transit!

Please tell me you’re being sarcastic!!
