I love halifax, great city, great people, etc… but when someone said this city is going to be the new trading capital of the world like Singapore in S.E.Asia, it makes me laugh. I am from Singapore, and now long time Canadian and proud of it. But the politicians here are without vision. Singapore succeeds because it’s modern and always one step ahead.

Halifax does not even have a light rail commuter train system, and still bickering over congested traffic, and people think cars are the only way to connect. This is not a vision of a worldwide captial centre. Not until you put politicians who change things.

  1. I miss Singapore, that was an awesome place!! Christmas time there was especially awesome. However I can do without some of the rules and regulation’s of Singapore here in Halifax.

  2. Haliman: Amen! That’s pretty much the only thing I don’t like about Halifax. It’s always three and a half steps behind. If the historic societies would just give a little leeway on the development of the downtown core, things would be a lot different here.
I’ve always wanted to visit Singapore. It looks like the kind of place where you could stand/sit in one spot for hours and not take in everything that’s going on.

  3. Don’t worry Haliman, I’m sure the Kelly Gang will have a study on the study about it, once they get all the concerts signed for the next 100 years (with The Stones playing the last one).

  4. Who could even come up with such nonsense? There’s no comparison, zero, zip. Unfounded stupidity. There isn’t a city in this whole country that could compare to Singapore.
