How is it impossible to find a place to sit down and have food on a Thursday evening if you have minors with you? After 9pm it’s like the city closes it’s doors to everyone who isn’t 19+. Halifax, I LOVE your food and wanted to share it with some visiting relatives – sadly, we had to go to a food stand since we couldn’t get in anywhere. Needless to say, it will be a few years before my cousins visit again :(. —Apparently needing to grow up faster

  1. Fuck you!!!! Some of us actually want to drown out the inevitability of our mortality without some kids screeching at us.

  2. Believe it or not there was a time not long ago where kids weren’t allowed in bars period and not just in NS.

  3. Adult restaurants, apartment buildings, adult spaces… yup! You made ’em – suffer the consequences!

  4. It’s hard to find a place to go and sit in comfort these days without hearing the piercing wail of some whiny little brat in full melt-down while a parent tries to “negotiate” with them. No sympathy from these quarters.

  5. Good grief, if the minor is under 10 they should be heading to bed not hitting the bars. There are plenty of actual restaurants that are open until 10pm if you need to eat out that late with children.

  6. I agree. Young kids should have a bed time. Get a family member to babysit and go have a good time.

  7. I have no idea what part of the city you live in but the entire province offers nothing for entertainment but restaurants and pubs!
Most restaurants close around 10pm. Depends on the place, most restaurants have bars in them and usually there’s a separation wall installed to satisfy that particular bylaw.
My friends have kids and both are 12 and 8. We never have an issue finding a place.
You think 9pm is bad. You should have been here 20 years ago. It used to be 5pm! In addition, there was nothing in there about a separation wall.
Also I hate to disagree but most restaurants here are garbage.

  8. C’mon people, she/he said nothing about ‘kids’, she said minors. Something tells me her cousins weren’t 3 and 5! I had my 15 year old daughter and friend come downtown to meet me and friends at a (closed down) wing place. At 9 the waitress told us to leave, not a big deal as we had been there for a few hours but still, kinda annoying.

  9. The “kids” I mentioned are 15. No need to worry about them wailing in your face Halifax – they’re pretty entertained by Pokemon Go and barely even look up to talk to us while they’re eating.

  10. Hahahaha

The Bitch wasn’t about bringing kids into a bar, it was about finding a decent local place to eat at night with minors. The restaurant chains are open and cater to families but thats not exactly eating “Halifax Food”. Thats eating frozen deep fried trucked into the province food.

Completely legit Bitch though and OB just about everyone on here is hostile so don’t take it too seriously. Most of them seem to forget its “Love The Way We Bitch”.

  11. Don’t go to a bar. Simple. Go to a family restaurant like Jungle Jims, Boston Pizza, Jack Astors, I can go on…. I want to know where you are going during normal dining hours where they won’t let a 15yo in. This isn’t Europe, dining hours don’t start at 9.
