Old news – this is from a month and a half ago!
And it rates the best RUN cities, not the best cities overall. Burnaby, Saskatoon, and Surrey the best three cities in Canada? Yeah fucking right!
In a survey done a few years ago by CBC, Halifax was voted the best city in Canada. We also consistently rank high in MoneySense magazine’s “Canada’s best places to live”: http://list.canadianbusiness.com/rankings/…
Plus, Halifax is just awesome, as most people agree. There’s something about it that no other city in Canada quite has.

In a poll of how well run we are, I’m surprised we’re that high. This place is awesome, but our city council setup blows. Seriously, larger cities make do with far fewer councillors.

When I was in highschool at QEH, it was simply called “Sprytown,” but it has also been known as “Spryberia.” People from “Sprytown” are called “Spry’s.” A marijuana joint is called a “Sprytown Cigar.”

Another cool fact: world-renowned pornstar Peter North is from Spryfield, having graduated from JL (Jail) Ilsley High School. He’s probably the most famous Spry of them all.

Spryfield isn’t so bad but it could def use some economic development along the main st. Burned out former burger joints and bulldozed tim hortons aren’t a good scene. I hope it comes around someday.

Gee………..Nova Scotia only has 2 cities. All things being equal………..we only had a 3% chance that one of them would get to #1.
We fared well to land Halifax 23% up the scale from last place……….you know………..considering it smells like shit…………..ah no………worse than just shit………..anyway……..I’d hate to visit the least well run place………I can’t imagine how bad it smells!
That place would be Hamilton ON and it’s on the list too… I think it’s time we raise the bar.
