It’s called fucking CONSTRUCTION. It makes the bridge SAFE.
And, there are two bridges…
sounds like he would much rather be on the bridge as it collapses
You should have stayed in school.
Construction? I thought “The Big Lift” was to limit the ability of Dartmouth folk to get into Halifax while on house arrest as the timing coincided with their curfew. Learn something new here every day.
Hey! New economic strategy: Dartmouth becomes a penal colony…?! We take in America’s Most Unwanted. Cole Harbour is segregation. North Dartmouth is the gang trough. Cow Bay becomes Cowtaunimo Bay. Those better behaved will be allowed to live closer to the waterfront…
You would prefer for it to fall down before any repairs are done? Then it would really be out of commission for a while.
^^ you are skating on thin ice there Froggy! The Dartmouth Liberation Army will see this as the latest provocation from across the harbour. I can already hear the shouts of Vive le Dartmouth Libre!
And I suppose you’d rather they do nothing and have the bridge collapse. What a fucking idiot and a SET to boot. The OB probably lives in Halifax and works in Dartmouth.
I moved to avoid being inconvenienced. I used to bike the bridge every day, and I don’t want to give metro transit money to take the bus instead; I also don’t want to be dropped off by the shuttle bus at the *sewage treatment facility*. So, moved. Took the bridge out of my commute. The big lift hasn’t even happened yet and I am 200% happier!
The Cat, I’m not to worried about the Dartmouth army. Once the drugs wear off, they’ll all be ready for a nap. 🙂 Kidding, I grew up in Dartmouth and still enjoy a visit from time to time.
OP, while the construction is necessary I can see how this is a huge inconvenience for you. I always preferred taking the ferry anyway but they don’t run as often or have access to as many connecting buss’ on the Dartmouth side. Perhaps now would be a good time to consider finding a new job, investing in a vehicle, or moving somewhere closer to work.
It’s not all that long out of the way to take the other bridge… or just hop a ferry…
there are options.

Thanks for that, Willard.
What about 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.? Oh yeah, that’s when 90% of the population is using it! Tough luck OP. can you swim?
When the bridges were built Dartmouth living was probably a good idea, at the time.
Wouldn’t it be easier to dig a trench ( or would it be a canal ) from the Northwest arm right over to Bedford Basin & turn the penninsula into an island penal colony ~;-) than to try to build all the walls & barb wire around the Darkside & the Bay ?
It’s probably the same idiot who complained because his landlord is fixing a structural problem with his building. Next they’ll complain their plane won’t take off because thee’s a bit of ice on the wings.
God so many dicks on here. FOLKS I know the bridge needs repairs, I drive over it every day/night! I was just bitching about how it sucks I wont be able to get from Home to work in 10 minuets for the next 2 years. It was a sweet deal I had going on and anyone else in the same situation would have likely felt the same way as myself.
Oh and @Bro Tim – Get a life..
Chapstick, what sweet deal could possibly be had by a) living/working in Dartmouth b) working shift work c) working night shift d) commuting to/from Dartmouth.
No deal there and nothing sweet about it.
Hear! Hear!
Hey ChapStick…. just read a story in the paper about. The bridge commission will be announcing the shuttles schedule to move pedestrians from Halifax to Dartmouth…. hopefully your walk will be a bit less.
