Just a friendly tip: when you are driving your car, keep your right-of-way, people. That means don’t do weird stuff like slamming on your brakes for someone who is aimlessly standing next to the road looking like they might think of crossing it someday, insist cyclists go ahead of you at the four-way stop, freak out and hold up sixteen cars so you can let someone make a left turn, or generally slow down and stop traffic from some weird need you have to absolutely fuck with the system. Just don’t do it – it doesn’t ever help. You might think you’re being nice, but arbitrary and unpredictable erratic driving never helps. And yes, when you’re flashing your lights at me when I’m making a left at some intersection urging me to dash out in front of you while a dozen cars are beeping their horns at you, I am ignoring your stupidity.

  1. But it’s the vehicular equivalent of holding the door for somebody!! :S

    Very valid bitch.

  2. good bitch, i see this on young st all the time, somebody is gonna get a hurting

  3. pedestrians have the right of way in this city. At crosswalks and IMPLIED crosswalks. I agree nobody should be stopping for jaywalkers unless they’re already in the street. Then op? If you hit them? You’re legally at fault if you had a clear sight of them. Period.

your road rage is a FAR bigger problem. For other motorists AND for you.

  4. According to the new HRP’s pedestrian safety cop, ped. don’t have right of way in HRM.

  5. Right of way or not, you hit a pedestrian, they sue, you lose, end of story! There are just as many bad pedestrians as there are drivers. If it takes me a few extra seconds in traffic ensure I have a clear path I’m gonna take it. Always expect the unexpected with others. You’re safer that way.

  6. heather, you’d have a hard time suing someone when the cops issue you a ticket for your jaywalking infraction. If you’re in the wrong and jaywalking, despite any damage incurred, I highly doubt you would win anything more than a freshly bruised pocketbook.

  7. Actually I kind of like it when someone stops and lets me do a left turn in front of them. I blow kisses!

  8. Sometimes letting people in reduces backups too. But I’ve seen people do it when there are no cars behind me or them. That’s just silly.
