That’s actually a completely legitimate maneuver, OB… especially if you’re moving into a narrow space, have a longer than average vehicle, are avoiding debris on the road, pulling into a parking space, want to make room for oncoming traffic… I’m sure there’s plenty more reasons for this particular maneuver, so stow the pointless bitching, princess, because if this type of behavior bothers you it might be wise to lock yourself inside your home.

We gotta pull against the turn to complete a turn and from what i understand, skaters have the same problem. I don’t do it with my car… er.. i don’t think… I’ll keep it in mind if i do.
That’s the first thing I thought when I watched the movie ‘duets’ and he was teaching Reginald how to drive. Seriously rookie move unless you’re avoiding (one of our many) potholes, etc….

Yes, crowding someone else’s lane while making a turn is such a “legit” move. Where the fuck did you people learn to drive? I could see having to do it in a truck, but not in a car.
Spare me the fucking people who turn corners in their compact car like it was an 18 wheeler. But I can live with that.
What gets my guppy growling are the goddamn cowboys who stomp the metal to the pedal on a fucking red light – a young woman almost became a hood ornament on Duke and Barrington at lunch hour today – totally arrogant and aggressive driver behavior. Drivers like that need to rattle that coconut on the end of their neck and realize road rules are there for a reason.
bad car drivers are much more of an issue for me, than peds, cyclists or motorcyclists
The Captain drives a truck when he’s not cruising on the bike, so I’m guilty. But, if you pilot one of the thousands of cars in the city then it’s probably not a necessary maneuver.
i miss driving on deserted country roads
If you’re driving a larger vehicle like a cube van you momentarily pull in the opposite to your intended direction because you’re making a wider turn. Another situation is in a crowded parking lot where you have pull in between two vehicles.
A better question is why does this bother you?

the front wheels of your car track out wider than the back wheels during a turn.
IE: If you make a tight turn your front wheels might clear the curb, but your rear wheels will hit.

Normally, one wouldn’t have to do this, but if you’re turning into a narrow driveway or roadway, I’d much rather inch a bit into the other lane (provided there are no cars to cram over in that lane) than jump the curb.
So, I will clarify my former statement as “sometime’s it’s necessary and is a legit move.”
Tight turn? Legit move? In a regular car and not a 5-ton truck or 18-wheeler? Front wheels track out more? Give me a fucking break.
People do this for the same reason that they cross the yellow line when they pass a parked car, or that they slow down from 100 to 50 when they have to drive between cones but have the same real space: they don’t know the size of their fucking vehicle, and get retarded.
Why is it a bother? When the fuckhead who is turning into Timmy’s in a fucking Yaris thinks they need to swing out into your lane in order to successfully accomplish a right turn.
With the OB on this one. For the people who didn’t even get it, maybe you’re the problem. I suspect you also don’t know how to turn in an intersection.
