I haven’t lived in Halifax very long, but finally long enough to find something to bitch about. And that would be tape. Or is it just my apartment building where tape cannot stick to walls? All our pictures, maps, etc. have 10 fucking wads in every corner yet they still buckle or peel off every other day and cover the floor in a mess of adhesive failure. And I’ve tried many different brands – this just doesn’t happen in other parts of the country.

Try poster putty!!
It’s likely whatever paint that was used in your building. The same thing used to happen to me in rez. Are tacks out of the question?
Poster putty for me has the same results. Halifax is more humid that places inland so paper warping on walls is the norm. Best to use tacks, that paper goes nowhere then.
Have you noticed pop is “flatter” than it should be too? I think it may have to do with not only humidity but air pressure at 20 ft above sea level.
Unless the tape is taking wall paint with it when it falls, you should try just cleaning the target area first.
1) Do as No Dogma suggests and clean the area first.
2) Stop buying cheap ass dollar store tape and use good quality 3M Masking tape.
3) Get some class, ditch the paper posters and put up either pictures or poster boards.
FYI Jennier and OP: a lot of paints these days (especially those used in large scale housing like residences and apartment buildings) has Teflon added to it to make it easier to clean. This also makes it a lot harder for tape to stick too.
A tip – the sticky side goes to the wall, not the other way round 🙂
Use duct tape.
You can get it in pretty colours. I use purple, myself.
We live by an ocean, lots of moisture in the air (tape’s enemy) use tacs!
Putting up posters doesn’t make you 12, and not everything goes into a picture frame. You’ going to frame maps? That’s expensive, genius.
Putty – cats eat.
Tacks – Don’t puncture ancient drywall.
Duct tape – peels off chunks of paint.
Better masking tape – Where does it say I buy cheap ass dollar store tape? I’ve tried them all.
So 12 year olds are the only age-group aloud to decorate their wall-space? I thought they were just the only age-group aloud to have Marilyn Manson icons.
Where are people reading posters? Pictures and maps. Mostly miniscule pieces of art that should stay on a wall with four pieces of tape in each corner on its backside.
STICKY TACK
