Friday when the buses came back, I hopped on the bus with a cheery, “Good Morning”, that I didn’t even anticipate slipping from my lips. I suppose after couch hopping for a month and a half I was just happy to be sleeping in my own bed again in the middle of no where. Fully anticipating hearing many rude comments or seeing many cold shoulders, I was surprised. Even through my guilty pleasure of blasting Justin Beiber to get me pumped in the morning, I could hear all of the, “Thank you/Good morning/Welcome back”‘s, to the drivers from the passengers. I had never felt more proud to be a part of the HRM, and all the people willing to be the bigger man/woman. I felt a part of a greater humanity for the first time in a long time. Thank you! —One Less Lonely Girl

  1. I agree, OB. It’s too bad that the drivers can’t extend the same courtesy though… most of them are looking out the left window and avoiding all eye-contact with passengers.
Can’t say I blame them for being ashamed or fearing the public at this point, but it’s nice to be acknowledged when you say “hello” or “good morning”.
