Goddamn it, I can NEVER get the haircut I want. It always comes out looking fucking terrible or as if nothing was done at all! I’m cutting my own goddam hair from now on.

  1. It helps if you inform the stylist of what you want done. They’re hairstylists ffs; they dont have ESP!

  2. I’m a big fan of the Golden Clipper. If you can give them just a tiny sense of what you want done, they’re pretty good at extrapolating. And most of the stylists are really cute.

  3. My hairdresser for the last 20+ years has been a hairstylin’ genuis – Betty at Milo’s in Woodlawn – she’s worth every penny even though it’s a 40 minute drive for moi. She’s trendy and is simply a sweetheart.

  4. Since I’ve already got a bit of a receding hairline and most likely, based on just about every other male in my family, will one day be completely bald, I will very soon just buy my own set of clippers and shave it all off! No need to deal with pesky hair dressers anymore. Too bad for my beautiful head of soft, dark curls, but you can blame genetics.

  5. Phat the Barber on Windsor. He’s a hoot; funnier than any standup act you’ll pay to see. But then he can’t do lot of damage to me, “Fookin’ egg on a bun”.

  6. I hear ya, same here… I got my head shaved the last time and even that got fucked up… I had to go home and use my trimmers to clean up the areas he missed. F’n jesus!

  7. Golden clippers in SS are a bunch of snobs.
The first choice should be the last option.
I’d rather do it myself then go back to either one of them too.

  8. First tip, don’t go to First Choice. My boyfriend always goes there, and always complains. He just gets his head shaved because he’s in the army, and they mess it up EVERY time. It’s always patchy and uneven, or sometimes they cut his sideburns in half.
TTFN, Betty is my boyfriend’s aunt and she is very very sweet and good :D! She has a place in Halifax too, near the Smitty’s by Spring Garden.
If you want a reeeeal good haircut and don’t mind paying a little more, go see Tammy at Key Lime Pie on Quinpool across from the Superstore. She owns the place and has been the only one for meee for like 5 years now.

  9. second from the neck up if you have the coin….

though last time I went to a barbershop I spent 25 bucks on a 10 min wash and cut.
soooooo FUCK THAT. ain’t worth 150 dollars an hour to get my head trimmed up.

I’ll spend $30 on clippers that will last me 7 years instead… or at least going on….

  10. My spot used to be London Hair Design until my stylist/friend went AWOL. Then I switched to Life Salon Spa a couple times. Honestly, I’ll take a barber over anything now. Its cheaper, the barber is a real professional and has more experience than most HRM stylists do combined.

If you feel like pampering yourself, try Sykea or Life. You can pay an extra $5-10 for the warm scalp massage and shampoo.
