first off o.p., there is no such a critter as personel space. did it have your name on it? did you buy it from someone? did someone give it to you, after they bought it, as a gift to you? if you answered no to those questions, then FUCK OFF. there is no personel space. you are just afraid to interact with the humanity around you, and should go the fuck back under your rock or hole where you crawled out of.

Personal space is more a myth than reality, especially in an urban environment. Actually not too bad in Hfx. compared to larger cities where doing the subway two step is a daily event, and even crossing the street can happen almost without your feet touching the ground as you are carried along by the throng. However, here it can get a bit close in a store line. Learn to use your cart, or elbows if you want to ‘fight bacl’. Usually not worth the hassle for the few minutes you are usually stuck next to the other person. All part of life in the burg.
