According to this document Peter Stoffer’s sudden about face now sees him backing a cash cow for the federal government that has cost the tax payers $1,390,000,000 (one billion, 390 million dollars) to date and is running now at a cost of $76,500,000 (seventy five milion five hundred thousand dollars) a year. The full report can be seen here.

While the above is an RCMP report when the same RCMP speak in public about the cost they use a figure of $4,000,000 out by approx. 1400% from the actual cost they show in this document. The story about this can be seen here.

I am tired of flip flopping politicians who get elected then “toe” the party line like sheep and being lied to by government and it’s agencies. —B. D.

  1. guns being registered will not stop gun crime, or any other type either.the registry only is there for a few reasons, one is to tell cops how many, and the other is to tell them what kind.you can register a zillion guns, and the gun crimes will still occur, usually with the use em, lose em guns. no cop with a brain, will go to a home, not figuring on a gun being there, even before this registry. ask the older retired cops, they have a uniform response, whether it shows guns there or not. they go in under the idea that there could be weapons of some type there.
any cop that didn’t, shouldn’t be a cop, or he would wind up dead awful fast.this thing is nothing but a grab, in the simplest, stupidest form. does it stop any crime, no. does it save lives, again no. does it justify it’s existance, maybe, but at an arms length.the cops know who has guns, the c.f.c. computer database has all our info there, not the type, or how many.
the cops can, and have already seized guns from people, why, because of a clause that is in there to seize a potential threat to the public. that takes in an awful lot of guns, people.
let’s just leave things the way they were, no self respecting crook, will ever register one of their bangers, bet on it.

  2. @nspolitics – Precisely how many lives have been saved by this boondoggle and how could that possibly be determined.

I actually have some sympathy for the police chief’s point of view. The more intel you have on a situation before you send in your officers, the better chance nobody will be hurt. However, we do happen to live in a country where the safety of law enforcement takes a distant second to the rights of citizens and if you don’t believe that pay attention to the squalling of community activists and leftie politicos the next time a police officer has to shoot some “poor misguided youth” in the process of committing a major felony.

I understand the Liberals and Few Democrats – rubbing their greasy little hands together at the prospect of more taxes and another level of bureaucracy to reward the offspring of party workers with cushy office jobs.

It’s the attitude Lefties and the Femsheviks who seem to believe that it is perfectly acceptable to limit the rights of a segment of society in anticipation that they MIGHT commit a crime that I find more than a little bit hypocritical, and therefore, not surprising in the least.

    So Piss Off.

Disclaimer: I’m not a gun owner.

  3. Ivan …save your breath.
you can’t talk sense to those who’ve been brainwashed.
Those poor demented fools who actually believe people in Governemtn are actually there to help us….& not themselves .
IT’s like talking to a religious person & trying to get them to admit their religion is no more valid than any other.
I believe it is a form of mental illness that many people suffer from…or perhaps its not so much an illness, more a genetic trait where some people just perfer that others do the thinking for them, give them some Bullshit information & that’s then gospel

    For example .
Did anyone else every see the Governement sponsered commercial with an egg being dropped into a hot pan ?
    THis is drugs !
This is your brain on drugs !
    Anyone remember that ?
I remember seeing that for the first time, & thinking mmmmmmmmm that looks good, tastey ! There was no horror, I didn’t think marijuanna smoking would do that to a brain….it just made me hungry !
I just didn’t get the symbolism of the commercials message ~;)

  4. Oh Yeah – where is the nearest Denny’s anyhow. One of the things to do before I die. I know, I set the bar far too low.

  5. nspolitics-“It’s “tow”, not “toe”. And no price can be put on even one life saved.”

they sacrifice our troops all the time because it costs to much to upgrade their equipment.

  6. @ Death’s Head. Not right now. I’ll keep my peepers skinned. Even though he served when the French were still in Algeria, “Legionnaire” by Simon Murray is still considered one of the best memoirs. Heh, Heh – Just call me the Erik Prince of Halifax booksellers.

“Oh Blackwater keep on rollin’ Mississippi moon woncha keep on shinin’ on meeeeee……”

  7. it was amazing cubed^^so many stories so many wee and big beasties. the bipeds were right some nice too

  8. Hugo, this has nothing to do with anything, but where can I steal your profile pic from? Did I say steal, I meant borrow.

  9. Bet the OP won’t be bitching about the registry when someone fires a shotgun at him/her…..like what happened to the innocent woman in Caledonia last year at the grocery store. She lost her life! This registry is worth it if it saves even one life!

  10. sebastian, exactly how would the registry have stopped that crime? It wouldn’t. The registry does not stop people from committing crimes with firearms.

  11. Well Bro Tim, since the Registry cannot save even one life….its obviously not worth the costs associated with it !

  12. It isn’t the guns that kill people, it is people with guns that kill people…. Might as well put the money into things that get to the root of the problem of gun violence. /just sayin

  13. NotsoNTH …it isn’t guns in the hands of people that kills people…if you want to go for technically it’s “Bullets” that kill people !

So my vote is for scrapping the gun registry,& as per Chris Rock’s logic, from now on….charge $10,000 for a bullet !
Someone’s gonna hate you hard (and keep it up for awhile) until they can raise the $10,000 dollars so they can afford to buy a bullet to shoot you !

    Yep, that’s the answer.

I agree More, loved that bit.

    Thanks Hugo!
