Not twice but THREE times I have stopped in to use the washroom and every single time an employee has been in the washroom at the same time as I have and they do NOT wash their hands before returning to the sales floor. I have seen one of which go back to handling produce – with unclean hands!!
I don’t care if your employees choose to have low hygiene standards in their personal lives, but at work, there needs to be some standards!! —disgusted

Why are you hanging out in grocery store bathrooms?
Always wash the produce. You need to realize how many rodents pissed on these same items during harvest, transport, and sometimes in the display case. The lack of hand washing by an employee is the least of your worries.
Unclean! Unclean!
Think of how all those germs will boost your immune system.
Aside from the aforementioned rodents, don’t forget the birds that often fly into stores and flutter around the produce section. Quelle horreur!
Its common knowledge to wash produce before even eatting it to start with. Is it gross yes but lots of other things end up on it like someone said above before it even makes it to the store. It appears common sense is a dying gift :(. As i have seen people not wash produce and just eat it without washing.
Call or e-mail the manager of the grocery store if you are that concerned. They can’t change staff behaviours that they don’t know about.
In the field flies that land on shit also sit on growing produce to lick their little hands and feet.

About that hand washing thing, hand washers are in the minority. This means that every surface you come in contact with in public is constantly being refreshed with applications from almost everyone else’s genitalia flora and fauna and god knows what else. This doesn’t seem to bother most people, hence the manually unwashed majority. The best we can do is wash everything (within reason) that we acquire because, you know, bus pants.

Yeah, cause grocery cart handles are super clean and disinfected every, well, never. Anyone that doesn’t wash their produce before eating it is a fucking moron.
