This is a process of learning, love is It’s not what you say or what you do This is my city, this is your city too There are so many things we need to change It’d be too easy to let it overwhelm us It’d be to easy to let it stay the same Am I safe here? Yes you are safe here Am I needed here? Yes you are needed here (-modified slightly from Craig Cardiff’s “Safe Here”)

Dear City of Halifax,

I love your beautiful sense of community.
Despite the challenges faced, we face them together.
We thrive despite the government, not in support of it.

However I think it is through this lack of support, we, as community members have come together to grapple and address the issues we constantly face.
At the end of the day success isn’t always determined by what we’ve accomplished. It is about the process we’ve taken to arrive at the present. Who we’ve engaged, who we’ve helped, who we’ve empowered, who we’ve oppressed. But mostly what we’ve learned from this and how we plan to improve from this learning.
In the process of addressing the modern issues Halifax faces I think we’ve developed many mindful beautiful people and it has given this place amazing character.

I love your style, Halifax. Always changing, always evolving. Pushing for the positive, pushing for the local– don’t ever stop.—Haligonian Lover
