We have only had snow like what? 3-4 times this winter and the municipality can’t get it cleaned up right. The snow stopped at 6pm and I work out off the hwy (102) and the road was barely drivable at 11pm. Then I came back to work for 7am and the roads were even worse. Where the hell is all of our tax paying money going? Between the terrible clean up & the gully on the hwy after the Kearney Lake turn off I will be lucky to get through this winter without buying a new set of rims. Seriously!! WTH are you doing with the tax payer’s money???? —Angered by the Road Conditions

I hear ya. There appeared to have been ZERO plowing on my route from downtown to the 103 to the 3. ZERO!
Our lovely HRM elected officials have saved us MONEY…by privatising much of the plowing.
Don’t get me wrong, it still costs a shit load of money…just most of it goes to managers & owners, leaving little for actual snow removal…isn’t our local government wonderful ?
You could always make a difference by insuring you & everyone you know vote for someone, who has never been in office before. After all if elected & without a clue…how can they do any worse ? Concert scandals that aren’t investigated, secret deals , closed constantly supposed council meetings , city staff running everything their way , getting consultants to consult the other consultants & us paying & paying & paying for studies, where nothing is ever implemented…its all nod nod wink wink backroom deals & we have to pay for it all. Now I hear our top paid city official live in anothe Province…& commutes back & forth !
Who’s paying for that ?
OB, it’s called privatization. Contact you local Councilor to complain, or the city to find out the name of the company than won the bid to clear the roads you use.
oh, but it’s all ok….. because we got an apology… yet again.
so all of you with claims out on your insurance to fix up your cars….
make sure you tell your insurance adjuster that.
It shouldn’t go up… the mayor apologized. it was his fault, not mine.
Man, I was disgruntled as fuck that it took over 2 hrs on a route that is usually 18 minutes to bloody get home… I don’t want “I’m sorry”…
I want “It’ll never happen again… or I will resign.”
That’s actually saying something.
(But we all know he’ll never resign… no matter how wrong he is)
You can’t snowplow a road that is already a parking lot.
Most roads in HRM turn into parking lots on a regular day.
The problem is that they don’t get out early salting (brining) the roads, both HRM and the province are guilty of this. They get out when the storm system is starting to establish but, by then, cars have packed the snow down and are in the way of the plows. It’s a catch 22.
Brine does not work very well either when snow has already been laid. Get out early guys!!
see, this is a direct, believe it or don’t, result of less money in cigarette taxes.yep, the old cancer stick was one of the main fundings for roads and shit. but seeing as how all the anti smoke nazis started their shit, people buy less, or the ones from the reserves. and nope, there is fuck all or no taxes paid into big brudder gubment.
so, who is to blame here, well really 3 parties are, first the gubment for putting them so high in cost, next we have the illegal ones, and lo and fucking behold, the anti or non smokers. lobbying for more rules to have clean air and nice smelly arm pits. i smoke, i don’t drive now, and fuck you to anyone that wants to take over kelly’s job. if you think you can run this fucked up town any better, then put your fucking name on a ticket to enter the race.
You don’t like your government? You hate HRM!
